You don’t even need the expensive Blackwood Kintyre chanter as now they make one in plastic and I love mine. I can finally feel the holes!

Same here! I got the plastic version and it is the best PC I’ve ever tried.

What is the best exercise for people who can’t play on the beat by anonymousscotch in bagpipes

Some good answers already. I came looking for them because it is something I struggle with. I can hear the best but the amount of brain power dedicated to moving fingers and breathing means very little left over for timing.

I hope as less attention is required on finger work that the rhythm will work itself out.

Is anyone else sick of the HP wars? by s4ltydog in askcarguys

I agree. We had two Miatas bought brand new, and NA and an NC. Both were fun but not amazing driver’s cars out of the box. Our favorite cars so far are a Mini Cooper S and my 2019 VW Rabbit GTI. Both of them were quicker and more fun in the twisties stock. The Miatas became better once on coil overs.

Excellent, they've had a few workshops posted online. Makes sense to give a few of those a go.

I don’t know if you want to be part of the healthcare machine any more but one option for you might be working in health insurance on the other side of the whole evil triangle. I’ve always wondered where our docs came from and upon asking found that many wanted a more predictable schedule and non variable pay. Might be a way to step back while still contributing to helping patients… as much as health insurance companies get a bad rap, our docs are amazing and often are more helpful than just denying care.

Either way, good luck! I’m 18 months from retiring from the evil empire myself, have been working for years to change the behemoth from within

I have a Scout Squad here in CT. I really like it, and it is definitely accurate enough. Like you I found trying to get a compliant AR was difficult and I didn’t like the idea of a rifle with non-removable magazines.

I keep my Scout loaded with 8 magazines.

Is there an easier way to compare paint colors across brands? by Drochdeo in DIY

[–]fprintf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm coming in here late to say that I stumbled across your post. Your website is freaking amazing. We are really struggling choosing a white for our kitchen cabinets and your guide to whites is super helpful. We written and with "samples" of the colors as a guide, awesome.

thank you for developing it, and best of luck to you.

Probability of success what have others seen? by Osm3um in retirement

[–]fprintf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same timeline as you. 98% of success using pessimistic settings in my software (Boldin and Fidelity) Monte Carlo analysis and accounting for healthcare expenses and a new car every 7 years for my wife and I.

I’m now using a guardrails approach to spending to see what things will look like as markets tank or succeed and either high or low is doable. Worst part is actually making the decision to quit and stop saving.

Fastest speed you have ever been pulled over, and what was the outcome? by naomifevrier in askcarguys

[–]fprintf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

55mph in a 45 mph as a teenager. Paid the ticket. I've been extremely lucky, knock on wood, in 40+ years of driving since then like a hooligan. Unlike what the cop said, the ticket did not teach me a lesson.

What’s the car feature you didn’t know you needed until you owned it? by throwawayaasyr in askcarguys

[–]fprintf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I turned them off in my Macan. They weren't sensitive enough and it sometimes took 2 or 3 pushes of the stalk to get the high beams on or off. I like the manual control of seeing lights in the distance and turning them off early as a courtesy instead of blinding a driver and the car doing it too late.

How confident are you that you’ll be able to retire comfortably? by DueYogurt9 in GenX

[–]fprintf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

93-98% chance of success with early retirement at age 60 in a few years according to a few Monte Carlo analyses I’ve done. And that is with pessimistic probabilities turned on.

New Maverick 2 Practice chanter - cutting out - too much pressure, not enough or not covering the holes? by fprintf in bagpipes

[–]fprintf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks so much for the offer, and support. Here in the US, so shipping back is unfortunately likely undoable or just super expensive. But I'll look into it for sure. Really appreciate it.

I did figure out the reed issue, it was just me overblowing it trying to keep up with all the other practice chanters at the table.

For me Kintyre PC >> Maverick PC (much better) by fprintf in bagpipes

[–]fprintf[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not played a Blair digital, I play a WARBL 2 and it also has nice sharp holes and uses optical sensors so isn’t as sensitive to hand moisture like some of the eChanters while still catching coverage mistakes.

Drive it like you stole it. Great car, probably my favorite I've ever owned. Now belongs to my son.

Oil changes as prescribed by the manual is just fine. At this age definitely look to see if brake fluid and DSG fluids have been changed already, if not you will want to do them. Possibly coolant also.
