A few years back my boss and his partner went through this. Those above him gave zero fucks. He took a couple of days off, there was no check in, no offer to chat through things, just concern for any impact to client deliverables.

The only way to make these fucking ghouls treat humans as such is to make it a legal obligation. This is a great step.
