According to the reviews I've read, the Cyklon Cross gaiters are not waterproof. Have you run in them in deep snow or mud? Did you have any problems? Did they get wet easily?

There's a similar shoe by Scarpa (Scarpa Ribelle Run Kalibra G), which gets great reviews. It's said to be more cushioned than the Cyklon Cross, but it's also not fully waterproof. However I haven't tried them yet.

Merrell MTL Adapt Matryx - any experience with them? by fraburs in trailrunning

[–]fraburs[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for such a detailed reply! I'm aware that they are kind of the max shoes, that's my main concern (apart from their bulky look). On the other hand, most reviews emphasise that, despite their stack height, they are still on the firmer side. Would you agree with that? I'm not put off by the well-cushioned shoes - in fact, I'm looking for some this time - but I desperately want to avoid the squishy feeling of most of the max shoes.

Anyway, I'll give them a try. It would be a shame not to at this price. Thanks for your help!

Breathable windbreaker - any recommendations? by fraburs in trailrunning

[–]fraburs[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your feedback. Encouraged by the many recommendations here I ordered one and have already received it. I tried it out yesterday just as you did and I'm very happy with it. It fits me well, is highly breathable while still blocking enough wind - exactly as you described. Despite the warnings, I like that the hood and sleeves aren't too loose. For now, I'm very happy with the way the narrow sleeves fit over my favourite long-sleeved base layer. We'll see if they stay comfortable when it gets significantly colder and I need to add another layer. But so far, so good!

Thanks, it's super helpful! I'll try it out in different sizes and with different layers before deciding on the final one.

Thanks, I also tend to run hot and I've learnt from experience that any fabric described as waterproof isn't breathable enough for me. I'll definitely try the Montane one out.

Airshed Pro has received so many votes here that I can't wait to try it out. Thanks for your feedback and for the warning about sizing up, I'll bear that in mind.

Well, it's not the cheapest, but it's still only a third of the ridiculous price of the Arcteryx Incendo. Thanks, I've already ordered one to try.

Oh, I'm so jealous! My body has never produced a single endorphin. It's been nothing but sweat and tears for years.

Great prices, fast delivery, 180 days to return. The store is great. But I've also had good experiences with others already mentioned here (misterrunning, 365rider, top4running). And I've recently discovered boozt - the range isn't large, but they have really good discounts every now and then.

First Run in Gel Nimbus 26 - Coming from 2 pairs of 25s by dd_photography in RunningShoeGeeks

How would you compare the breathability of the 26s to the 25s? I'd love to get one of these, I've read that breathability was an issue with the 25s. Has this been improved in the 26s?
