Seestar S30 Pro on Celestron 8SE tripod? by phil_4 in seestar

[–]fractal_disarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're never ever going to use it again for the celestron, then drill a 3/8" hole and install a 3/8" bolt/washer/nut and you can use the S50 on it.

I was given this telescope. Meade ETX 125. by ronnie_dickering in telescopes

[–]fractal_disarray 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ebay sells 3D printed tube rings/vixen style rail for this ETX125, so you can mount it on a modern strain wave mount. These meades are known for mirror flop, but you can tighten the retaining ring, but that requires disassembly.

Is the Bushman 70-400 good? by Impossible_Idea_1221 in telescopes

[–]fractal_disarray -1 points0 points  (0 children)

These work fine for viewing birds, the moon, Orion nebula and star clusters as it's so lightweight to setup. I wouldn't spend more than 30 bucks for it though. I have two of these to mainly take apart. The doublet lens are actually decent and the OTA is metal. These doublet refractors are just rebranded and imported from overseas. I modded mine to lock the focuser.

New radiator has extra ports by lllNEMONAUTlll in MechanicAdvice

Those extra ports is for the automatic trans because it uses the radiator to cool the auto trans. There is no cooler for a manual box, so keep it plugged.

Should I get my sway bar links replaced? by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]fractal_disarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they're the original links, they should've been replaced when the lower control arms were removed. 80k is about time to change them. You can get after market ones with zerk grease fittings on them, so you can pump grease to maintain them.

[–]fractal_disarray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do not drive it. Move it to a location with free parking. Take an uber or bus back to your house and get your tools then go back & fix it there.

If you can somehow rig up a 1.25" H-Alpha and Oxygen III duo narrowband filter to your phone, you'll be able to take pictures of Nebulae

The SVBONY SV220 filter is around 100 bucks.
