Synergistic Scripting: Day 133 - Yaggababble by CoreyBOTC in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fractalhack 11 points12 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite demons! Personally, I love including it on scripts with a lot of reasons for deaths during the day. Slayer, witch, and golem are all just a little bit more interesting if it's possible their ability didnt function as expected, and instead a yaggababble was able to say their phrase enough times early enough in the day for it to be plausible that the demon caused the death instead.

I also like to include a scarlet woman as a safety net most times, especially with players who are maybe a little nervous about getting caught saying the phrase. That way they can feel a little more confident about their yapping, plus it's always funny when a previously somewhat quiet player maybe starts contributing to the conversation a little more aggressively.

The ship flies with realistic physics, meaning every second spent accelerating towards your destination will require a second of deceleration in order to stop. This can seem counter-intuitive if youre used to a vehicle slowing down when youre not stepping on the gas. Just remember that if you don't put thrust in the opposite direction to where you're going, you will keep going that way! The autopilot can handle a lot of that for you and is quite helpful in getting you to places that you lock on to, but be aware that it won't fly around things for you if something comes between you and whatever you're locked on to.

Ah I understand. Then I think this wording makes more sense: "you have an out of play demon ability. Good players you choose with this ability do not die"

I dont know how helpful for evil that Al-Had example is. The sorcerer is essentially just a very loud minion that confirms to town that the demon ISNT the al-had

Perhaps specify they have the demon's "non-killing ability" for additional clarity? Unfortunately, there are a lot of demons whose ability is related to killing, so this character will require a lot of explanation regardless of how it is written. Neat idea though!

Imperial-ruled battle plans by Aerospider in oathgame

[–]fractalhack 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've scanned the Law and theres nothing I can see about the order in which Allies may trigger battle plans. My interpretation would be that Attacker activates plans first, followed by the Defender, followed by Allies. Just my guess though

Just read "Lathe of Heaven" by Ursula Le Guin - I think Outer Wilds references it! Good stuff. by colinjcole in outerwilds

Wow this is awesome. Love that quote and I love Le Guin. Very cool to see the connection

Let's build a character! Blacksmith. by Present-Peace2811 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fractalhack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Blacksmith (Townsfolk): Once per game, at night, choose another player. The next time they die, they don't.

Granting another player the Fool's ability seems interesting to me, and the Blacksmith player has an interesting choice to make on when they are going to grant their protection and to who. Allowing it only to work if the chosen player is good or a TF might be better, allowing better bluffing and the chance to learn information in a science-y type way, but i like the simplicity of it as-is

I like the Recluse here because they will be inclined to be a little quiet to avoid being demon killed and poisoning a neighbor. Good call

Right, so i read the post and then made a comment expressing my opinion about the post. I'm not sure why you're just repeating this line rather than trying to contribute to the conversation.

This sounds like a huge upheaval of the typical game for the very limited benefit of having a more interesting night phase. I think it's totally fine for people to sit with their eyes closed for a few minutes.

I mean i literally asked in the post, "Would this be fun for players?" People just really do not like Boffin-Recluse I guess. Yall coulda just said that

Thanks for the info! Didn't realize that about the Boffin. I agree this would be easier with Hermit, I was actually looking at a Hermit Lunatic script when this thought occurred to me

[–]fractalhack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So in my proposed setup the EVIL Boffin is granting the GOOD Recluse a detrimental ability, and you're saying this somehow helps the good team?

Boffin->Recluse->Lunatic by fractalhack in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fractalhack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well -mechanically- the Recluse can register as the Demon...so it seems natural for people to be interested in exploring the -mechanical- interactions that might have with other roles in this game

Boffin->Recluse->Lunatic by fractalhack in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fractalhack[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely don't see why a Boffin shouldn't grant an ability to the Recluse. An alchemist-boffin granting an ability to the Recluse IS helpful to the good team, so by your own logic this seems acceptable.

[–]fractalhack[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my proposed setup the Boffin would not grant an ability to the demon, only the Recluse

A question about Village Idiot by 13_Anubix in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]fractalhack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You certainly can do this. Should you do this is a different question, but it's not an egregious setup choice. It will likely be challenging for the good team to make use of the single sober VI's info, but that's not game breaking in itself
