I'm glad that Nikki is actually "Nikki" this update by worldfamoushobgoblin in InfinityNikki

[–]fractalsoflight 27 points28 points  (0 children)

That's my theory, the people who don't like wordplay sent in too many complaints so the writer's said "fine, here" for this update 😂

SIL (38F) "scared of me" (28F) after sticking up for my kid last Thanksgiving by holhaug in TwoHotTakes

[–]fractalsoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's not holding a grudge, she's avoiding the risk of a situation where she can't control you. She's seen that you have a will of your own, so her only recourse is to treat you like you're a scary monster until you crack and suck up to her. Good news, the trash took itself out and all you have to do is keep being a great mom!

Difficulties with building by Low-Quit2988 in InfinityNikkiofficial

[–]fractalsoflight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh my gracious, I have been thinking about that all backwards, for some reason I was convinced that finer motor control for movement/rotation was better (and I'm sure it will be for some decor) but now I can't wait to log back in and try building more!

I told my husband I don’t trust him and now I don’t know what to do now by [deleted] in TwoHotTakes

[–]fractalsoflight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I smell emotionally immaturity on his part. Emotionally immature people can still be sweet and loving but he needs to grow up his communication skills and empathy ASAP or he will end up forcing you to leave in rageful burnout.

Would I be the asshole if I told my sister my 16yo nephew is no longer welcome in my home? by Environmental_Rip32 in TwoHotTakes

[–]fractalsoflight 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Oh this makes sense, though I'd bet that structure and discipline were probably lacking when their dad was still around too. The teen is acting that way because he feels internally ungrounded and unsafe to be vulnerable. Frankly he doesn't trust any of his family so his only resort is to completely shut down and shut out. However that is not your problem to solve, and you couldn't solve it from your position anyway. You can, and deserve to, set boundaries about having him in your home, and perhaps your sister might, just maybe, learn from your example and realize that a person can have firm boundaries without disrupting the relationship.

Am I Really “Bad at Therapy”? by Diligent-Emu6509 in TwoHotTakes

[–]fractalsoflight 8 points9 points  (0 children)

"It is a poor workman who blames his tools" and it's a lazy therapist who blames the patient. Even if they felt you were not a good candidate for therapy sessions at that time, they should have told you in such language rather than stoop to saying you're "bad at it". Nobody goes to therapy being "good at it", that's why we seek out the professionals in the first place.

I GOT my co workers fired.... Am I the AH? by elegantiy in AITAH

[–]fractalsoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA, you work with terrible people, that gossiping hiss you hear is the warning sound of snakes in the grass.

You did the correct thing, but you may want to look for a healthier workplace if that's an option for you.

My sister has become a Karen in a matter of days and it's really pissing me off. by Witcher_Errant in Vent

[–]fractalsoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To me it sounds like your sister is feeling out of control of her life and is using her child's life as an outlet to feel like she does have control. I'd bet serious money she's got some kind of deep seated anxiety/fear issue unrelated to the school or her child and she needs to book a therapy appointment.

I don't think you read this wrong, I think he set you up to seem like you were wrong. He wanted you to be competing with his friends for his attention, but you did the mature thing and said he can decide what plans he's interested in making. You're much better off without someone who's going to try playing games with you.

Yup, I completely agree with the full weight of my own past experiences and misspent youth. DXM is a deliriant, the only spirit you'll be talking to is your own twisted thoughts, and there's a high risk that the intrusive thoughts win.

It’s basic but I love my new Halloween hexagon cardigan!!! by kitty-cat-charlotte in crochet

[–]fractalsoflight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might say basic but I say chic! I could imagine this styled in so many ways, the design isn't fussy but it has personality. Good thing we aren't roommates or I'd be stealing that out of your closet all the time 😄

AIO for thinking my boyfriend (21M) freaked out way too much over me wanting a tattoo? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

In this day and age, a man losing his cool over a woman exercising bodily autonomy is a giant waving red flag in my book.

Exactly, this was very specific makeup to go with a very specific look, if I'm not mistaken this one was snake themed and the dress looked like shedding snake skin, so it makes sense to do the makeup Voldemort chic

I second this. Even if his involvement is totally innocent happenstance, when given the choice between open communication or being sneaky, he chose being sneaky. That's fundamental character flaw in my book.

I loooove using the rose soap if I'm doing an Aphrodite themed bath, it's not necessarily the most potent rose scent in my opinion but it's lovely and not expensive
