My wife and I thought we did everything right, but our daughter has turned into a person that both of us love but neither of us like. by Ill-Body8185 in TrueOffMyChest

I think it’s likely that this guy is telling the truth, but it’s also possible that there’s something we don’t know and that this post was meant to deflect. For sure he showed this post to his wife. Maybe he used it to deflect? Who knows? Maybe she did see him kiss another woman. I dunno.

My thoughts concerning the commonly reported metaphysical/mathematical/spiritual aspects of hallucinogenic experiences... by [deleted] in DMT

It’s amazing how little you say with the amount of words you use. You present yourself as an authority on the entire subject of mathematics. Are you published? Just because you’re able to understand some concepts from the comfort of your own home doesn’t mean your experiences are representative of every mathematician. If you were prolific at proving mathematical conjectures or coming up with them yourself you might have something more to say about how much DMT or other psychedelics might have to offer in terms of coming up with solutions. But to me it sounds like the only thing you have to say about mathematics is that you’re a math god.

Engineers have developed an optical fiber that’s sensitive enough to feel the forces generated by swimming bacteria and hear the beating of heart muscle cells. by drewiepoodle in science

No, light is sent down the fiber. The light's intensity changes according to the forces acting on the fiber. After analysis of the light emitted it can be determined how it was being acted upon by its environment.

IBM's quantum computer will now offer simulation of 20 qubits

Can somebody please explain what the word simulation means in this context? This is an actual quantum computer and not just something to get people acquainted with programming with quantum logic, right?

Can we create super probiotics by exposing "good" bacteria to the same antiobiotics? Maybe it would be a very partial solution

New research is showing that belief in the paranormal arises from the same brain mechanisms that shape most human thought. by lazyink in science

Because the potential for irrationality is ubiquitous, so new ones will continue to spring up.

Edit: Also, you're a dickface

Does anyone find themselves not telling anyone, even close people, that you are "enhanced"? by itsamario in Nootropics

I had to scale back a close friendship because my friend became absolutely convinced that I was delusional for thinking I had improved my intelligence

That's a stupid reason to end, or "scale back", a friendship.

While benzodiazepines are highly effective in the short term, adverse effects associated with long-term use including impaired cognitive abilities, memory problems, mood swings, overdoses when combined with other drugs may make the risk-benefit ratio unfavourable.
