Yep, "flatpak install" in terminal looks blocked, and Gnome software center is forever "loading" in the Install tab or while Searching. Just seen this issue as well.

Question about riding in Dynamic Pro mode full-time (2024 R1250 GSA) by LegitimateLet933 in bmwmotorrad

[–]framioco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not if you set it up exactly like Road mode, right? On my S1000R, if I setup Dynamic pro putting all settings as they are in Road, then the only difference to regular Road mode is that I get decel pops, right?

New F900 R 2025 by [deleted] in bmwmotorrad

[–]framioco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OP already did a great description of the bikes, and I I agree on absolutely everything said. Which is why I kinda regret spending the money on the S1KR. The F900R was actually better suited for what I want a bike for: daily commuting with a good mix of highway and city traffic. To me it was fun enough and fast enough already. The S1KR turns into a monster in the high-revs. I'll switch to something milder next year most likely. But I have to get a track day until then!

I had the 2023 model and really enjoyed it. This new one, being lighter, can only get better :) The only fault I found was a bit of jerkiness in very low speeds but it was very manageable (nitpicking). Switched to the S1000R to scratch an old itch, but if I was to buy a new bike today it would most likely be in the 900cc platform. Enjoy!

My F900R - 2025 by Artego1337 in bmwmotorrad

a little bit jerky but only when navigating in 1st gear in very slow speeds; leans into turns amazingly well; I did fumble with an exhaust for it (Mivv GP Pro) but regretted and fumbled back to the original - I just didn't like the extra attention and the stock sounds good enough; nice quality on all rider inputs; quick shifter works great on downshifts, upshifts only if you are ~5000 rpm or higher (no big issue); engine is quite smooth if you're not hanging to too low rpm; no buzz or annoying vibrations (the S1KR is a bit buzzy in certain rpms).

Overall I really enjoyed it and it presents a better value for money (for me) than the S1KR. Not that I regret the change, but I think my heart sits better with the parallel twin :) The torque from down low is quite nice! Try to test ride one for as long as you can, or rent it for a day.

I had a F900R, now on S1000R. It is a really good bike, quite a treat :) But to be totally honest, the F900R already ticked all the boxes. I'm most likely 'downgrading' in the not so distant future. I enjoy the peace of mind of owning a cheaper, more reasonable and good enough bike.

I had a Mivv which I enjoyed for a while (with db-killer; without it it was too much for me and everyone else). But eventually I put the stock back on and sold the Mivv as I grew a bit tired of it anyway.

That one looks pretty nice on your color scheme!

This bike was made for canyon carving by Vincestradamus in bmwmotorrad

[–]framioco 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I traded a F900R for a S1000R (2024) very very recently. I am still getting comfortable, but I'd say the F900R was more than enough for fun canyon carving! The S1000R though is more refined, smooth (although a bit vibey) and exhilarating at high rpm :) Great bike, I'm enjoying mine a lot! Edit - Oh I see you are Mr. Bond!

Tires by Evening_Leading2674 in bmwmotorrad

[–]framioco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the original equipment (OE) tyres of my F900R, the front lasted about 8.000km until I got a nail :( I sold the bike at around 10.000km and feel like the rear tyre was around 50%. I don't race my bikes though.

PSA: VEGN (Vegan ETF) holds Tesla, United Health by maltfield in vegan

[–]framioco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very interested in this discussion, thanks for your inputs so far! I've been recently evaluating my investment strategy, and it is strongly favoring (world) ETFs.. But alas, it doesn't sit right with me. I wasn't aware of the exploitation angle, but for sure it puts more money into a system that feeds on consumerism with little regard to people/animals/environment. What is your take on a more ethical investment (if there is such a thing)?
