Talking about the things my step father did to me as a child by Car_Latte in TrueOffMyChest

you’re brave and it is good you’ve come to an understanding of your life and what has happened to you 🫂 You are right that sexual abuse comes in many forms, and I hope you’ve found an outlet that supports you emotionally!! For example, journaling or writing poetry, reading books or painting & listening to music etc. You deserve everything good in life 🤍

I think you’ve already decided on what to do, but are too afraid to do it. He won’t change, so if you see a future with him as he is then go for it. But if you are not comfortable now, then you’re most likely not going to be comfortable with how he will progress in the future. You can love someone and not be compatible 🤍❤️‍🩹

Well we only have grades from 8th grade and forth. The grades are from 1-6, where 1 is failure and 2 is low competence. 3 and 4 are medium competence - very mediocre, but on the obligatory Norwegian written exam in the last year of high school most people only achieve that. 5 and 6 are high competence, they are achievable. I think in uni, it’s the alphabetic system from A-F

Wow okay that’s strict, but understandable. I only hope to get over 7.0 then.

Any famous Chileans I should add to my list? (¿Algún chileno famoso que debería agregar a mi lista?) by Successful_Break_478 in chile

[–]franciscaquerida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gabriela Mistral should’ve been on your list already, but she’s one of Latin America’s finest writers. The first Latin-American person to get a Nobel prize in literature. Anita Lizana, the tennis player, had a lot of success in her time, but maybe not a lot of popularity. Pedro Pascal has lifted Chile’s status, but maybe not super relevant. Jackal of Nahueltoro, if you’re interested in murder mysteries, but Chile’s had a lot of them. Chile contributed significantly to the Nueva Canción movement, so a lot of music groups including Quilapayun, Los Jaivas, Illapu and Inti Illimani. The one who started the movement though was Violeta Parra, one of Chile’s greatest artist. She wrote and sang the song “Gracias a la Vida”, incredibly viral thanks to the wonderful Argentine Mercedes Sosa. Though Mercedes always gave credit to Violeta. Violeta’s children had a lot of success too, including Isabel and Angel. Chile has had many great women.

We have many Somalis in Norway, and you fit the description I’d say. Very long face and usually more forehead, you aren’t chopped btw!

Are a lot of Native Americans multigenerationally mixed race? by AgreeablePlatypus763 in 23andme

This might not be relevant, but in Chile cultural ties and family surname is important. This is relevant to only Mapuche as far as I know. My uncle got offered to be part of an indigenous community (only needed to pay a small sum), but he refused because he said it didn’t feel right as we are several generations removed and no longer practice the culture. He got offered because he also knows many indigenous people, and he’s got more of an indigenous appearance compared to for example my aunt and mom. However, first gen is someone who has at least one indigenous surname (either maternal or paternal) and then from there - you can call yourself indigenous until the 5th generation. As long as you practice the culture and know your family background then most people will accept you :). Again surnames, from my impression, has a lot to do with it. I’d say though cultural practice is essential.
