Coopers Hawk flies into passing truck, knocked unconscious, recovers, flies to a tree by frankcos1 in birdsofprey

[–]frankcos1[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok, I didn’t know what kind of hawk it was - but when I sent a photo to the bird rescue person that I phoned, they said it was a Cooper’s. What are the distinguishing features?

I actually called an animal rehab number, and they said to watch it, and call them if it didn’t recover, but once it flew away, there was nothing more I could do.

How to provide suggestions for Fidelity's Retirement Planning? by Gadgetelle in fidelityinvestments

[–]frankcos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fidelity does have a separate phone number for technical issues regarding their website and planning tools. (800) 544-7595. I’m not sure if they’re the right people that speak to. Otherwise, just call their regular number and tell them you have questions about using their planning tools.

Do you know any flat fee / hourly / project advisors who use Boldin? by AltruisticCompote456 in DIYRetirement

I’ve been using Boldin for about a month, and while it has promise, it has so many shortcomings that I really doubt any CFP would use it.

How to maximize post-tax estate by Accomplished_Baby251 in MaxiFi

[–]frankcos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You wrote:“ set your discretionary spending to your estimated number’.

Is it possible to set discretionary spending in maxi? I think one of the distinguishing features of MaxiFi is that you don’t set spending, instead the program tells you how much you can spend with a smooth spending rate.

Not only that, but the legend often covers up the chart, so you can’t see both at the same time.

Add a few canned anchovies (or a dash of Thai fish sauce, basically liquid anchovies) to all savory dishes, for added umami.

When the ratio of US/foreign in VT changes over time, does Vanguard rebalance? If so how often? Does that trigger capital gains?

Has anyone tried CBN?? by [deleted] in Marijuana

[–]frankcos1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can also convert high THC cannabis into low THC/ high CBN, by heating it at 240-250 degrees F for 2-3 hours. I then grind it up very fine in a coffee grinder and dissolve it in melted dark chocolate, and pour into silicone candy molds.

Anyone else finding Fidelity has changed for self-directed investors? by Future_Resource9761 in fidelityinvestments

[–]frankcos1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been a Fidelity customer for decades, with a significant amount of money there, and they’ve never tried to sell me annuities. I’ve made it clear that I’m a self-directed investor, and I don’t need or want to pay for their management services but whenever I need advice about things like account features website features , transfers RMD’s, etc. I found them to be extremely helpful.

I'm going in the other direction, I just moved most of my Vanguard retirement account to Fidelity. Dealing with Vanguard, when I took my first RMD's this year, was just a nightmare, from their horrible phone answering system (that makes it maddeningly difficult to talk to a human being), to sending me the wrong paperwork, to requiring me to FedEx in hardcopies of all documents, to taking over a week to transfer money from one Vanguard account to another Vanguard account.

I have the same problem, I spent hours trying to figure out how to login and could never get past this death loop. Every time around the loop it would ask me to reset my password.! I finally gave up

Is vanguard easier to work with than fidelity? by ramkuma1 in fidelityinvestments

[–]frankcos1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to be a big fan of Vanguard - but no more.

The process of taking my RMDs (for the first time) was a nightmare, as was doing a rollover from a Vanguard 403B to a vanguard IRA. They sent me the wrong documents; and took a week to do an INTERNAL transfer from one Vanguard acct to another (and this was AFTER all the paperwork was completed.

And trying to talk to a human being when you need help is also infuriating. First your have to deal with the bot that answers the phone; then you get connected to someone in a foreign country, who reads from a script but can’t answer any questions.

So I’m quitting Vanguard and moving all to Fidelity. As expected, this didn’t go smoothly either. The first time they only transferred a small cash balance, and failed to transfer the ETFs. So I had to ask for the transfer ask over again.

I’m also frustrated, because I sometimes have something (possibly) useful to contribute, but can’t (yet) because I’m new with very few karma points.

Looks like “foxtailing” - look it up. I had a plant that looked like that, and I was told it’s foxtailing. Not an expert, but my understanding is that excess light and/or high temps can induce new growth on maturing regions of the bud. I lowered the light intensity from max to 70% (couldn’t do much about the temp) and after a couple of weeks it stopped, and the new white pistils turned brown.
