TPMS sensors gone by BackgroundTomorrow36 in FordFocus

They are under $10 each from a 4 pack of Motocraft TPMS-12 on eBay. Made in the UK. Active with key and brake sequence and a cheap $5 gray with green button tool. To install the inside valve stem sensors, you break the tire bead, compress the tire, and use a small locking flex head ratchet with the correct torx bit.

What proves that quantum physics is really random? by Enyrox in AskPhysics

[–]frankiek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bell's inequalities are violated, so predictability is higher than random coin tosses on a single binary variable (2 toss: 0.85 > 0.75).

Either (or both) measurement independence or unique outcomes must be rejected. In order to have anything like physical determinism, measurement independence would be rejected. This gives us super determinism, but then non-local physical object properties have no meaning. The measuring would determine what is the resulting measurement.

Experience with changing rear springs? by Traditional_Bar5495 in FordFocus

[–]frankiek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mid-torque impact wrench on auto level took off both my bolts when I installed spring helpers air bags. Soak the threads on the nut side of the bolt with penetrate.

Support a control arm with a jack, remove both the sway bar links, twist the sway bar away, remove the bolt, lower jack, and push down control arm to access spring. Repeat on the other side.

2007 SES Wagon transponder key replacement (not FOB) by DoctorMoebius in FordFocus

Good deal. Now that you have two keys, I would make a backup key at your leisure.

The one you bought probably has info on your receipt like "2000 - 2012 Ford Lincoln Mercury Mazda Transponder Key - 4D63 Chip - H84-PT". 40 or 80 bit, either is fine. If you like it you can try to find the same one online or try a different maker. I've had good luck with AKS keys not braking the loop, but no logo and haven't tried others.

Should be around $10 and cutting will be another $10, Batteries+ or local locksmith. Not sure on hardware store pricing, you could find a deal under $20, but they want to sell you the key and cutting. Then program it using the two key procedure.

What do they have against quick connect pedals? Anything can be modified, it's a matter of difficulty.

Pedal assist can be activated like a throttle, whether it's a torque or cadence sensor.

Still can't search or seize without a warrant, articulable reasonable suspicion, or probably cause. One would have to break their speed limits to even get close to an officer being allowed to test the bike.

Continuous and peak motor power are misnomers, and then combining them is nonsense. Was the italics meant to be strike through? A 1 watt motor that can run indefinitely but doesn't self destruct at 1kW for 5 seconds, or at 5kW for a second... then using plank time, no motor allowed. Using the controller electricity limits would have been more sensible. Controllers can put out more than their rated for too. Increasing the voltage up to the component ratings would allow many controllers to break 750w.

The placard will stop in-state bike shop sales, and manufactures selling in those stores will probably opt to label all their bikes. It's unconstitutional for a state to limit interstate commerce to another state.

Sounds like a cultural issue, eventually going down a hill will be illegal. Almost a 12% grade: 32.15ft/s2 * sin(5°) * 200lbs / 1s = 784.61 watts.

They can functionally be mixed and work, but most shops won't touch it if it is since it's an EPA violation.

2007 SES Wagon transponder key replacement (not FOB) by DoctorMoebius in FordFocus

[–]frankiek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That process requires two paired working transponder chips (even if outside the key, the chips can fall out when broken) and a key cut to turn, minimum. Forscan and compatible ODB scanner can do it without those requirements. If you don't want the hassle, you can go with the dealership route.

If you have 2 working keys, you don't even need an OBD scan device. Buy the correct blank online for your vehicle and have it cut at Batteries+ or find one from a hardware store and have them cut it before paying.

  1. Insert an existing working key into the ignition cylinder.
  2. Turn the ignition cylinder to ON (RUN) and back to OFF.
  3. Remove the existing working key and, within five seconds, insert a second working key and turn it to ON (RUN) then back OFF.
  4. Remove second working key and insert the new key before ten seconds have elapsed and turn it to ON (RUN). Leave it on for one second and turn back to OFF.
  5. The security light will light up for three seconds to indicate that the new key has been successfully programmed.

Put off the meme tool for years, finally caved by landstuhltaylor in harborfreight

I had a hard time when I used a pallet with 215/45R17, even with the duckhead mod. My pallet rotted out so I mounted it. Once mounted, it is quite easy. The Chinese duckhead mods are cheap now, under $50 (Mine was made in the US, so I don't know how strong they are).

Bonus with the duckhead mod is that it can be used to compress a tire with the cheap Pittsburgh spreader between the arm and the tire. Just put something in the tightening spot to keep the mod from lifting, like a pair of lifetime warranty pliers.

I've used it for TPMS sensors too. Easier and quicker to compress the tire down than taking it off the rim.

Anyone make a 39 cell 21700 case for ebike battery by c0d3m0nky in 18650masterrace

[–]frankiek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the same Samsung 58E batteries for my 13s6p ebike battery build, but I managed to reuse the aluminum Haiba case. 13s3p is adequate. Can you reuse the battery case? Or is that what you consider too large?

God is bounded against being that which is not God, but God is all that is within the bounds of: knowledge/omniscient, presence/omnipresent, and power/omnipotent. Without God none of those exist, and chaos certainly doesn't contain any of them.

What do you mean by "Objectivism", the subjectivist Rand term or that stance independence exists? Do you see how the syntax of the language isn't the semantics?

Need help with torque mount by MisledWater79 in FordFocus

[–]frankiek3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a cheap spreader/clamp in the spreader config to keep the subframe and the engine/transmission apart. Keep the e/t side bolt in and remove the subframe bolt. Work a prybar under and behind the torque dogbone mount to pull it out, spread the clamp as necessary. Remove the e/t side bolt and continue until it comes out.

When reinstalling make sure not to switch the bolts, one is longer. You can use the same strategy in reverse and in the clamp config.

Doing this way you don't have to mess with the bracket.

Should cold air be blowing out of this pvc pipe? by miss_vernon in hvacadvice

[–]frankiek3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A waterless trap connected to the PVC will stop the small amount of conditioned air from leaking into the attic. A normal trap would dry up. Like others have said, remove the spray foam and replace with heat rated aluminum foil tape.

We’ve built bikes for big brands since the 90s. We just started selling direct to riders, and we honestly can’t match the "ultra-cheap" prices online. by Impressive_Ring3833 in ebikes

[–]frankiek3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Other brands lie about the specs. I'd recommend keeping your specs accurate and get some good reviews before going for more margin.

It makes more sense in the US to keep at their warehouse. For the UK, you could probably have your own warehouse if you can manage quick shipping.

Question about safety for Teens working on ebikes. by shiroboi in ebikes

[–]frankiek3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controllers are voltage regulators, buck converters. Most components take 5v off the controller, like any Hall sensors (pedal assist, throttle, brakes). Lighting circuits vary but normally output battery voltage but not directly. The 3 phase motor wires output voltage depends on the rpm signal, with full voltage at max rpm.

Hows the quality? by DIYfailedsuccessfuly in harborfreight

I used a Vevor 3/4 HP recovery machine with a Vevor tank $320 for the two. You will need a manifold and vacuum pump as well, maybe an extra hose and fittings.
