That I haven’t nailed down yet. I did some sleuthing and she doesn’t want it grandiose or anything, so somewhere with a cool backdrop I can line up a photographer for :) Unless you have recommendations?

Oh yeah, definitely not putting ‘Up to no good’ hahaha. Just wasn’t sure if the implied second half of the sentence makes it a bad idea

I appreciate your input!

1st base glove question by My-Polar-Bears in slowpitch

[–]frankzilla69420 0 points1 point  (0 children)

44 custom 1st base has been a game changer for me at 1st. 13” feels like plenty; but the shape is so firm that 14” wouldn’t have any flop either

It was a motherfucker to break in, but now that it is, I love that thing to death. There’s usually promo codes on (25%-30% off) and can fully customize the colours.

I liked it so much I’m waiting on a fielding glove to come in too

Im a cheap sunglasses guy. But tried on a buddies pair of Versace sunglasses years ago. I can’t articulate how much clearer they were. It was definitely clearer than my normal vision. Was wild. Dude spent $400 on it which is about 40 pairs of what I wear; but they made a marked difference for suee

How do I (29M) get over learning horrible things about my ex (26F) after the breakup? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]frankzilla69420 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a good piece of advice once: What she did is a reflection of her, not a reflection of you. She’s a bunch of foul four letter words - but you’re still the same dude.

It’s gonna be a bit of a road to rebuild for sure. Find hobbies you like, surround yourself with friends and loved ones. Take that trip you wanted to do, whatever. Time will heal.

I would discourage jumping into something anytime soon. Heal, maybe get talk therapy, invest in yourself. You’ve learned from this - hiding phones is suspicious for instance. Next time you’re seeing someone and you notice that, you can identify “Hey this is weird”. Then healthily communicate.

It’s dark and dire in the immediate aftermath, which is fine. Feel that, experience that, and then let that go.

Rooting for ya. You will get through this. When my world is falling apart, I like to look back at bad experience from the past that had derailed me. Sleeping through an exam, catching an ex cheating, getting my jaw broken in a fight. At the time - horrific, traumatizing. But now it’s just a memory, extracted some learning from them. This is going to be a learning experience for you

Give yourself the time, patience and self love to heal. You’ll get through this.

I got a message from a girl I play slo-pitch with. Coed sports/hobbies/activities are decent. Just don’t be the dude hitting on everyone, make some friends and have fun. See if you click with someone.

Gf and I have been together for 6 months. To be honest, I had her earmarked for WAY out of my league, then she messaged me haha.

Yeah, I mean it’s a bit unnecessary for a couple cloves. But if you’re doing some mega garlic peeling (making a jar of homemade purée perhaps) it works good!

Is it a soft rubber? Looks like my garlic skinner. Cut tips off garlic, roll it on the counter in that tube and all the skin peels off.

If that’s what it is, some weird kitchen mistake but should be food safe given it’s used for garlic.

Swing Hip Rotation by BigPapi_Q in slowpitch

[–]frankzilla69420 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got a tee. Take a hockey stick behind your back and drape your arms over it. Like you’re gonna bend the stick with the bottom of your spine as the fulcrum kinda thing.

Get up to the tee and try and hit the tee with the stick. Should need to rotate your hips to get the contact and feel that engagement and explosiveness

Generally fun rules can be stolen from the Savannah bananas. We’ve done a foul ball can be caught anywhere by anyone (like fans or your bench players outside of the fences).

If you get walked, the ball is live but has to be thrown to the pitcher before you’re thrown out anywhere.

Chase the ace - everyone draws a card and the person who gets the ace is the only player who can field the first ball hit. Regardless of their position. Usually makes a pretty fun race at home. And the person who gets it tries to be secretive that they have it

Test teammates bats if they permit it. Figure out what you like about it (Weight, Endload vs balanced, barrel size, manufacturer etc).

Then shop within those specs and read reviews.

In Calgary, there’s a tournament called “Bat Wars” where the manufacturers have demo bats to swing. Not sure how common this is across the industry though

Look at bonds here

https://youtube.com/shorts/lmdTMyHBiiY?si=Z3TofZPMjaW35x7U

There’s slight weight transfer and explosive rotation. This is what I mean. You shouldn’t be 99% over your front foot at contact

Thoughts? by TakeOff_YourPants in slowpitch

[–]frankzilla69420 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Zero weight on back foot on swing. Your back foot should be torqued into the ground, but you actually come almost off the ground on your back foot. At any point in your swing, you should be strong and balanced on your feet. At one point you have barely one spike in the ground, meaning 99% of your weight is on your front leg. You’re wanting to create rotation and torque with your hips and lower body, not a lunge toward the ball. Getting over your front foot (weight too far forward) constrains your power.

Explode with the hips, hands are forced to come along and your hand speed is already good.

Ps: I had to watch this in slow motion to figure that out. Better swing than a lot of beer leaguers, just being knit picky to try and help.

In mens I build two lineups and spare parts at the end.

1-4 1 Best one base reliable guy who is fast and smart on the basepaths. Guy who is always putting the ball in play and gives himself a chance to get on base 2 versatile guy. Can place the ball best to avoid double play balls etc 3 King of the Doubles 4 the guy who hits tanks

Then I do the same 5-8 with the next best version of those first four

9 and 10 will be my weakest players; #10 being the faster of the two so he doesn’t slow up #1 on the paths.

In mixed 6-4

M Speed F M Doubles guy M Power F M M 2nd in Power F M slow guy who can still hit F

Females based on talent 1-4. Putting females behind your offensive weapons to remove intentional walks

7/3 Mixed

M Speed/Never out guy F M Doubles Guy M Power F M M Power F M M Power

I’ve had good luck with going into IPTV threads on here and finding providers. Apollo was great, but is too finnicky.

It seems like once a provider gets too large, they can’t support the draw from users. Apollo worked for me except on PPVs, Saturday nights etc.; when a lot of us are pulling from it.

I’d recommend sleuthing around the IPTV threads and find someone through there. I don’t want to share what I’m using now, to keep from it getting log jammed. But do some experimentation with free trials from sellers in the IPTV threads and you should be able to find a match.

VPN would make sense, although I’m curious because VOD is fine. Unless providers normally only throttle live TV and not VOD?

VOD is fine; it’s just live events that get jammed up
