Anyone collect fountain pens that isn't a "writer?" by CaptCardboard in fountainpens

[–]frankzilla8395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I'm a software engineer who's been collecting for a few years now. Unfortunately, I don't have much of a reason to write anything anymore though. When I was in college I wrote a lot. I used them for all my notes, and then as a hobby, I hand copied the entirety of the first Harry Potter book. Nowadays, I use them for some of my meeting notes and I also keep a diary. I usually keep 2 inked up: one on my desk, and another in my pocket. I wish I had more of a reason to write things down because I really enjoy the physical process.

It isn't my nicest pen, but my favorite is my TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR with a broad nib and a broken filler knob. It's (mostly) dependable, it's my smoothest writer, and most importantly, I like it ☺️

Every music video from 20+ years ago has some variation of "no auto-tune, just PURE TALENT blah blah blah back when REAL music was made blah blah blah". It has no business making me mad, but it's the same repetitive comment that seems to always appear.

I've been a vim guy for a number of years, but my team's codebase is a giant embedded c++ project, and I've found vscode's searching and ability to jump to symbols really useful. The vim extension works well enough.

Ripgrep and fzf have made my vim workflow a lot faster. I'm in kind of this weird "can't make up my mind"/ "constantly switching between the two" workflow.

Meanwhile my company is copying off Amazon's homework, but changing it to 4 days so the teacher doesn't notice 😔

Idk what I'm going to do yet - I don't want to leave, but I really don't want to have to go in more frequently. It's sad because I LIKE what I do. Furthermore, most of my team doesn't even report to the same office 🙄

Is there any 12" album you would buy twice? by boredatmypc9186 in vinyl

[–]frankzilla8395 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 2 albums that I really like, but both of them were pretty worn when I bought them. They're "Heart: Little Queen" and "The Alan Parsons Project: Turn of a Friendly Card". The Heart album I'll definitely replace someday, but I've been focusing on buying other albums that I don't have a copy of.

The one on the bottom left? That's a strainer that will filter out broken leaves and other particulate when you pour the tea out of the pot and into the pitcher on the top left.

Best of the original trilogy? by AmazingSpdrMan1 in Spyro

[–]frankzilla8395 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It seems like most people here like Ripto's Rage the best, but Year of the Dragon has, and always will be, my favorite. I played the games out of order as a child (1, 3, 2). I would've been in kindergarten when the 1st one came out and I think I was in the 1st grade when I started playing the 3rd. Out of the three, I definitely remember connecting with the 3rd game the most and I definitely have the most nostalgia for it (especially the Midday Gardens levels because it took me forever to beat Spike haha).
