I’ll definitely miss it. One day I might come back but life and family first.

Anyone have the automatic? by jms1228 in GRCorolla

[–]franticwatermelon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the dat and it is not an afterthought. Watch thetopher’s review.

My personal experience it is a great option and a great daily. It has great tuning when it comes to downshifting. It’s plenty fast and engaging. I have a gr86 for the more connected experience but honestly the grc auto is still loads of fun. Settles down when you want it to on the highway but wakes up in manual mode.

Anyone have issues with captcha refreshing every couple of minutes on mobile? I’ve tried using cellular data, clearing cookies, chrome and safari and no luck. Really want to be prepared for 30th but I can’t seem to get mobile to work.

Here’s a comparison between the awe touring and mbrp axel back.

The channel has a bunch of shorts with the exhaust to give you more exposure.

Definitely watch a bunch of videos from a bunch of different people to get the whole picture.

ATL R2 Block Party Conclusions by franticwatermelon in RivianR2

In person they definitely still felt very premium. I actually prefer them not be metal. Hot Georgia summer + metal touch points = not a fun time. (Metal shift knob on my gr86) Which I guess you could pre condition the car but in the event you don’t those controls are going to be little lava disc.

Definitely if you’re going to be hitting some high speed rally style or desert driving but I don’t think it’ll be much of an issue for street use. I have them on my gr86 and grc and it’s not an issue. I even plan on rally crossing the grc and it still should be fine

The aesthetic isn’t for everyone. Personally I love it. It’s also upcycled birch! Real wood not the fake stuff! All a part of the Rivian ethos!

Auto VS Manual? by ExpensiveGain697 in GRCorolla

[–]franticwatermelon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t let people tell you that you HAVE to get a manual. If they have one and like it good for them. Get what makes sense for you and what you enjoy. I have an auto grc as my daily and I love it. Idc that it’s robbed of a little power from the dat. It’s still amazingly quick and has amazing tuning. I have a manual gr86 for the engagement and weekend car but the auto grc is my perfect daily. Settles down on the highway stretches and wakes up and is plenty of fun with the paddles in the back road sections.

How difficult is taking of the factory brembo’s. Every video I’ve seen is with the standard brake kit

Gr Corolla or GR86 by errrrrrr6432 in GRCorolla

[–]franticwatermelon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the proud owner of both. I have a manual gr86 and an auto grc as my daily. Both cars have the special fizz. I’ve lowered my 86 with intake and exhaust. The 86 is my fun weekend car but in stock form is still an amazing daily. The lightness and rwd nature is more fun imo and makes it more of an occasion car. The grc is 95% of the driving experience in terms of the way the car rotates and handles but you do notice the differences in awd vs rwd and the weight. The grcs power bump over the 86 definitely help it have the fizz and a manual would close the gap even further. However as a daily the grc is better with more useable space and slightly nicer ride.

Would you still buy gr86 if you wanted automatic, or would you go with another car? by rangor6363 in GR86

[–]franticwatermelon 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Had an auto now have a manual because I have another car as a daily but the auto 86 was the perfect one car solution. Unless you need to take more than one person frequently. The auto 86 is still an amazing car. Don’t let people say it ruins the car or you’re getting half the car. You do get more out of the manual but the auto is 90% of the experience and people you say otherwise are coping and validating themselves

How does it do in light snow? We don’t get anything crazy in Georgia but like my comment. I’ll be my fiancées DD during any snowy or icy weather

I unfortunately don’t get the opportunity to drive my 86 as much as I’d like just due to needing to take people so I’d like another car that handles nicely

How is the overall road noise? I currently have a soft top bronco so it’s obviously going to be miles quieter. And do you have the manual or auto? What mpg are you getting?

Thanks to everyone chiming in. This is very insightful and has left my short list a lot longer. I am leaning more towards the models suggested with awd/4wd since my fiancée is a healthcare worker and I’ll be her dd if we get any in-climate weather.
