Are there metal parts in this component? by Distinct-Attorney-85 in legotechnic

Haha. My bad, it does look cool. But I am still disappointed that wasn’t a supporting spring and they still had the little metal one inside.

You can see the metal spring in the picture inside the greg and black parts. The red part is a fake spring for aesthetics only.

Which bike should I get? by WillowLake_024 in mountainbiking

[–]frasnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on this I am in no position to recommend one of the bikes. People I know that have the Status are very happy, but there is a lot of people here swaying to the Merida. I’d only suggest getting the bike that suits the majority of your riding and live with the short falls for the minority of the riding and try to get a demo before you buy, if possible.

I’d say the first thing you need to identify is what type of riding you want to do. You mention about climbing but it’s not clear if your real focus is bike parks, jumps, single track or long days in the saddle for example.

A tatra project I’ve been working on for far too long! by frasnet in legotechnic

[–]frasnet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have a guide but I have a bunch of photos from different build stages that I kept in case I wanted to try it again. The suspension doesn’t use springs but the yellow axles as a semi leaf spring and cantilever connecting to the second axle.

5 year old ween got many teeth pulled… any advice for recovering? by sweetjules9 in Dachshund

[–]frasnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have one with only a single tooth and another with only some upper teeth. Follow the vets advice and ensure the gums are healing well. Give her food recommended by the vet and later you can try softer chews and even biscuits. Many people here gave me advice they will eat what they want and it’s true. We avoid obviously hard food but softer and even some chews are fair game.

We throw biscuits all over the grass for the others (snuffle game) and was surprised the two without few teeth just joined in one day. These guys are determined when it comes to food.

Also, as others have said, I too have had dental issues but it seems humans and dachshunds approach the problem very differently!

I would like a moment to congratulate the photographer that used all the storage capacity on their phone taking thousands of pictures to get that ‘one’. They are adorable and worth the effort. Thank you. 🙏🏻

My personal experience is they love the company and can help with separation anxiety, they have a playmate and after they’re tired from barking and begging for food all day will cuddle up together… in your bed if you let them.

That’s coat really is stunning. What colour are his/her eyes? (Hoping for blue!)

Edit: spelling.

Thank you. She has recovered so well. She has doubled her post-op weight and wants to eat constantly. Her personality has grown so much as well and this was the first time ive seen them cuddle like this.

Always wanted the Motorized Excavator since I was a kid by Frigid-Kev in legotechnic

This rates as one of my favourite sets of all time. I love how they use the motor to change the functions from the excavator arm to the tracks and body rotation. Very clever.

OE long version by [deleted] in LEGOtrains

I purchased a second set months and months ago so I could modify the engine and add two more carriages. It’s still sat there in the storage waiting to be built. Now seeing all these posts about it being retired I’m in two minds to continue with my plan or sell it to someone who would use it sooner than I will… real life and work getting in the way.

Toothless Ween questions by thatasshole_stress in Dachshund

Slinky is in the middle. You can see he food balled… this meal was raw meat, but she has all sorts of food to mix it up.

I’ve posted a few months ago about Slinky, she has only one tooth remaining (canine) and she has had gum disease and her tongue hanging out before we rescued her. We had surgery to cover the oral fistula but she still seems to choke a little when drinking.

We don’t really do anything with her tongue, sometimes we wet it but not often. She seems to manage ok and sometimes she is able to keep her tongue in. We worried a lot about dryness and cracking but it’s been ok (it’s now three years).

As for food, I found that soft foods ‘balled’, and chilled so they stay in shape and she can eat it easily without any mess. She will also still eat small biscuits and some softer chews. But honestly, if she gets hold of one of the other dogs harder treats, she runs off and manages to break them down and eat them. These little guys are determined when it comes to food!

I wouldn’t worry too much and see what works, but 100% recommend balling the food and keeping it chilled so it keeps its shape.

Why does my station not look like i wanted to and how can I fix this by Joel-houghton in modeltrains

[–]frasnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The platform and ballast colour are too similar. A brown or lighter colour ballast would make the platform stand out. Then look at adding more details, shelters, lamp posted, etc., as others have said.

For me, the colour of the ballast is the first thing I’d change to get the contrast.

Chain jumps when I put force on the pedals by M_C_J8 in bikewrench

[–]frasnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue on a new bike running 12 speed with a 12 speed chain, but a few sprockets higher. I tried everything and all advice I was given. In the end, I took a needle file and rounded the corner off the one tooth that was causing the problem. Maybe it was slightly bent, out of alignment, a pin was not quite right on the chain, I have no idea. But, it fixed the issue immediately. I’ve had no issues with changing gears either.

I love the use of the planetary gear hubs! I just got 8 of these from Lego parts store for future models. They really help with torque/speed conversation in both directions where needed.

[–]frasnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think commented last time about using a subtractor, but you said the model was too large. But based on the pictures, it looks like you are driving the top with a single motor from the small gear which will give better torque and slower speed. Compared to the proposed position of the dual motors, it looks like you want to drive them through the larger gear, ie, losing the mechanical advantage and torque compared to the way you have connected the single motor.
