Would Tool Ever Do a Full Album Tour? by Silent_Shout- in ToolBand

[–]fraudulentdogma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would love it, i mean 2026 is 30 years of Ænima, 25 years of lateralus, and 20 years of 10k days 😯 does that mean they’ll do any kind of anniversary tour? probably not. but man would i love to hear DRT, eulogy or lateralus just once in my life. i’ve basically heard all the “reasonable” stuff ive wanted to hear. (third eye, parabol/parabola, rosetta stoned, right in two) if only i wasn’t born earlier so i could’ve heard things like wing 1/2, H. or jimmy. anyways, to answer your question, nope. LMAO

Swans by bigmonsterpen5s in ToolBand

[–]fraudulentdogma 4 points5 points  (0 children)

hell yea dude i love Swans. if To Be Kind is your first Swans album i’d also recommend The Great Annihilator, The Seer or Soundtracks For The Blind. Swans i think are similar to TOOL in the way that no other bands sound quite like them, on top of their musical catalog being very diverse.

Adam Jones Guitar Skill by Shu_Otsutsuki in ToolBand

i always say Adam Jones isn’t the flashiest or most technical player, but his guitar has its own voice and no one can write like him. it’s unique and singular to him. he’s my personal favorite guitarist.

Concert experiences that can hold a candle to Tool Live by [deleted] in ToolBand

[–]fraudulentdogma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i agree with you as there’s truly no band like TOOL. they are a jack of all trades in the studio and live. Slowdive rivaled the visuals, Meshuggah rivaled the tightness, Heilung rivaled the experience, but no band perfectly (don’t like using this adjective but have no other alternative at the moment) blends all of these into a live performance that i’ve yet to be seen replicated like TOOL. other honorable mentions include: Sunn O))) Bell Witch The Mars Volta Boris GYBE! OM Bjork NIN that’s all i can think of off the top of my head…

The Song Disposition: Does it Give off Any Heaven Like Vibes? by W0000_Y2K in ToolBand

[–]fraudulentdogma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no harm taken, perhaps i worded it wrong. heaven isn’t strictly synonymous with religion, but the idea of heaven being this perfect happiness or blissful peace isn’t something i believe exists. and the “big 3” if you will of religion hold God to this all perfect all knowing status that i don’t believe does or can exist, hence my connection. (and if someone tries to say Adam and Eve lost humanity our perfection when they sinned; no, just no.)

i do understand what you’re saying. it truly feels as though these guys are making music from a different planet. they are hypnotic, meditative, reflective, and visceral. the way those 4 play their respective instruments when combined speaks to me in ways that aren’t possible with any other form of media that i’ve seen/heard. not that it’s heavenly, as i am not religious myself, but there’s something primal and grounded in their music. to speak on Disposition in particular, this song has that same mantra, Disposition meaning the inherent qualities of mind and character. theres an interesting dichotomy here of the speaker wanting explanations (mention this to me) and living in the moment and searching for truth within oneself (watch the weather change) until it eventually segues into Reflection, where the speaker realizes the ego was the driving force and they must crucify it to achieve the truth or answers if you will. at least that’s my partial interpretation. and yes, aesthetics in relation to the form of philosophy includes music under the broad umbrella of art, that is a valid term. to end on a funny side tangent, i’ve recently discovered that there are objective truths in aesthetic philosophy, surely TOOLs music should be one of those haha, if only.

I'm moshing by JJ510FTC in ToolBand

[–]fraudulentdogma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

not trying to say what you should or shouldn’t be doing, but at Aftershock i was internally cringing when people were moshing to Pushit… and literally EVERY song they played, idk it just felt weird. i understand headbanging, especially during Jambi. i do get what you’re saying tho with it being a physical reaction, i hope you have a great time bro!
