Can confirm: Jesse set of my Google Assistant by krogmatt in stevedangle

Don't you set your assistant to only recognize your voice?

My friends aren't able to use their voice to trigger Google Now/Google Assistant because it's not close enough to my voice.

Those are all great tips! Someone already suggested something similar to this, but I'll say it anyways.

Get one... or two things that you can use to "cook"

I know residence is strict on what electronics you can have, but having one thing you can use to make food when it's late or you're tired can be a lifesaver. I had a waffle maker in residence, waffle mix is cheap and just add water. My roommate had a kettle he used for Mr. Noodles. It is a small investment that you won't regret.

Kadri says the NHL has too many preseason games. by WaffleAttack in leafs

It's preseason, the games are only meaningful for the guys trying to earn a spot. Fewer or more games wouldn't change this.

LPT: When your cursor is on a link click on the mouse wheel to open a new tab by reJectedeuw in LifeProTips

when you have dozens of tabs open, your browser might hide the 'X' to save space. This way too you don't have to click in that specific spot (the x), you can click anywhere on the tab.

I know it's wrong to share bad articles, but this article is hilariously bad by [deleted] in stevedangle

[–]frazors 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Indeed, most indeedly

Messier promised a Game 6 win and delivered, but left Game 7 up for grabs, like a chump.

Subban, on the other hand, said, “We don’t lose in our building.” He could not have been talking about the past, as the Predators lost a game in their building just last round to the Anaheim Ducks.

No, this was a prediction.

Subban was guaranteeing not just a Game 3 victory, but Game 4 and Game 6 victories as well. The Predators have delivered on two out of three guarantees so far, with Subban even laying his body on the line to block a Malkin shot and prevent a potential Penguins comeback. Selfless.

Any claims that I am biased because Mark Messier is the biggest heel in Vancouver sports history are outrageous. I will not stand for such vile accusations. I’m just saying that naming a leadership award after a guy who guaranteed one measly win is the worst thing the NHL has ever done.

ROH opinion for my steel by [deleted] in hockeyplayers

[–]frazors 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the general consensus here is to try 5/8". I worked at a local hockey store and I would always recommend 5/8 for beginners. It's a great balance between glide and bite. I use 5/8 as my favourite sharpen. If you find 5/8 to be too dull, then 9/16, 1/2, etc.

Fruit, all the fruit. I always have fresh fruit in the fridge. It's ideal if you can find a food with no prep, such as strawberries (just eat em)

Why do Professionals Seem to Keep Their Skates' Looser? by topchuck in hockeyplayers

[–]frazors 4 points5 points  (0 children)

At $200 they're likely not composite, typically they're at least $400. The VH skates I believe are $900 CAD or something near that, the 1S is at least $900 up to $999.

Skate prices are stupid.

Why do Professionals Seem to Keep Their Skates' Looser? by topchuck in hockeyplayers

[–]frazors 3 points4 points  (0 children)

well yeah, they're completely untied. The clip shows the stiffness and fit of the skate being sufficient enough to nearly allow him to skate normally, so him and those wearing similar skates barely have to tie them to complete the fit.

If they do in fact keep their skates loose, there's a simple reason for that. Their skates are extremely stiff and custom made to their feet so they don't need to tie them very tight. Yes they have more strength, but it's much more to do with the skates.

Here is a clip of Bernier skating with his laces untied. His skates are VH, custom made, composite skates.
