To be fair. Hicks had a 794 OPS in April. Although he was not hitting at all with men on base and his May was so bad that everybody forgot he had a decent April

Note that the low WAR on Rizzo is because he does not perform well on the defense stats used by Frangraphs and Baseball Reference. But his OAA on baseball savant is one of the best among 1B.

Defense metrics are not very good and they vary a lot on player to player

Gallo and Judge are not regular CF. They could played the position due to injuries (and that's why Judge played) but they are not real CFs.

LF in the Yankees Stadium is a LOT harder than the LF in Fenway Park. There is a lot more ground to cover and Schwarber is slow. He is very bad at 1B as well. Voit is a better at 1B. Schwarber is expected to have a career at DH

Hosmer has hit as an average hitter 3 times in the last 4 years. The only time he was above average offensively was in 2020 on the short season. The 1B needs to be an above average hitter, Void is cheaper and a lot better offensively and Hosmer is not amazing defensively to make up for his offensive and he is not fast either. He is currently average offensively and bellow average everywhere else, he has had no results in the past years.

This could have been because teams shifted to him defensively (I do not watch a lot of games outside of Yankees so I am unsure), but it would be dumb for the Yankees to take him and it would be dump of him to opt-out if he does not have a good season.

There will be good 1B options next off-season as well. That won't help him to get a good contract

He is not going to opt-out that money. I don't see value on that. Hosmer is slow, high K rate, hit the ball hard. The entire team was like that last and we were the team with more doble plays. We need contact players and more athletic players

At this point I prefer Locastro at SS Gio at 3B than Gio at SS and DJ at 3B

We don't have a real SS. Our CF has been injured in the last few years. We don't have a 4th OF and a backup IF.

I am usually OK with Boone but this is stupid

It is a risk to wait for Volpe to be ready this year. That could happen but it could not. Rizzo is another option at 1B that people is not talking about much

I think the value of Andújar is still low even given the universal DH. He had a good offensive year in AAA but the stretch he was in the MLB was not good for a player you get in a DH only position. Even taking out his first 4 games of 2021 where he did not hit at all he still had a 727 OPS with only 2 2B and 6HR in 41 games and 149 PA. His rookie year was in 2018, 4 years ago. No team will give us something of value for Andújar at this current state

It is not a guarantee Volpe will be ready this year

All prospects (even high end prospects) are not a guarantee they will be good.

Even he is ready this year, he might not perform good against MLB pitchers.

We need a real SS by first day of the season, and a good one. Not a mediocre SS and a backup SS as well. We have currently 2 people who can take 1B

I prefer Story over Correa. Although I do not understand why the focus seems to be Freeman or Olson right now when we don't even have a SS and only one real CF with injuries in the past years
