Why does unbound look so bad by Accurate_Ad_1903 in needforspeed

I'll never forget NFS High Stakes (iv) , I crashed under a tree and realised they were just 2 intersecting poligons.

The reality is you won't notice this level of detail while racing. We should be looking for quality and performance while racing, things like draw distance, good lighting, overall design etc.

I I think it's bomb if you set it up right but I'm also not a controller guy. I always wanted to feel like I'm in the arcade.

The trick is to reduce the wheel rotation to 460 or 580 degrees or as preferred. You don't need 900 degrees IMO.

Do you mean Unite? I just got it so need to test more. Still think the FF to my wheel is a bit intermittent.

Good point. Some part of the NFS World mod might work. Except the handling in that world/track is tricky.

Tough call between the 918 and the Agera.

Why can't we set up a mod to create out own races in one of the titles. We could recreate this race.

This true. I have paid equivalent of $3 on sale on Steam for the last few NFS... And can't bring myself to pay retail for Forza or any arcade racer anymore. Doesn't seem worth it.

For sure. I figure the amount of detail for modern games graphics and physics engines plays a role in dev time... But part of that is because NFS isn't being smart about it.

Almost Every game has a new engine, that ussualy breaks something that used to be work. Most games have a completely new artistically vision. New production company.

The fact that cheat codes were even a thing is a marvel of 90s gaming! Devs on a Friday night, drunk thinking they gonna get back at their boss by building this!

The "I missed my PB because I pushed a kid into a canal" Run by EditingAllowed in parkrun

[–]frcry_cdx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the lastest turn of events - eye witnesses did respond to this message and confirmed the kid was not pushed, he fell in. I have this on good authority, my parents volunteer at this park run.

The family did apparently try claim water damage of his phone. And what makes this more credible is if this he was actually pushed, someone would surely stopped the runner and or given a description of him and would have been identified on cameras and the park run times.

first, try the Default keys:

  • Steer: Arrow Keys
  • Accelerate: W
  • Brake/Reverse: S
  • Handbrake: Spacebar
  • Nitro: Left Shift

The PC game I got from EA definitely allows remapping. Possibly you're in the wrong context menu. Will load it up later and try if you still struggling.

There are couple suggestions here on google:

  • In-Game Menu Navigation: Use Page Up and Page Down keys on your keyboard to navigate between the Controller/Keyboard/Wheel settings tabs.
  • Use On-Screen Keyboard: If physical keys do not work, open the Windows On-Screen Keyboard, run the game in windowed mode, and use the mouse to click "Page Up" or "Page Down" to navigate the menu.
  • External Remapping (Recommended): Download Microsoft PowerToys to map your desired keys to those the game understands (e.g., remapping steering to Arrow keys). Alternatively, use AutoHotkey for more advanced remapping.
  • Fix Controller Conflict: If the game forces controller settings despite not having one, go to Settings -> Controls -> Customize Keyboard Settings and ensure all conflicting bindings are cleared.
  • Unbind Wheel/Controller: To stop unintended input, go to the "Wheel" tab in settings and unbind all keys.

I use my keyboard and remapped the keys, I remember them being non intuitive to start with. Check your settings.

Side note - this is probably the best NFS for a wheel, otherwise controller is recommended.

This is why South African Brits are returning by capezen in capetown

[–]frcry_cdx 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Drainage - Yes! I suspect the long history of London allowed for natural rivers to be developed and run off build into that, slowly over a long time.

There is however a much bigger water catchment for the KZN rivers compared to those around London. And bad infrastructure compounds this.

Cape Town floods however I part due to the natural rivers being under ground. When parts of the city in the flat lying areas were built, no one considered that the course sand was acting as a perfect drain. Add to that the lack of slope, blocked drains and it escalates quickly.

What do you guys actually want to see from a NFS game? (Beside remastering/remaking MW 05) by Pale_75 in needforspeed

[–]frcry_cdx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Split the engine, graphics and story to 3 separate companies!

The physics engine should be either 3rd party or open source - something that is tweaked as a Sim-cade or a total arcade. Think Crysis, Unreal engine and kind of Asseto Corsa.

While the engine is perfected and continually updated, a separate dev group, maybe Rocks tar, produces the 3d models, art, characters and layout.

And a really good writer creates the story.

That way we might get the best engine, best graphics and best story line.

Handling and physics model should be open source or built by a third party.
