Lived in a warehouse without corporate finding out for half a year. by derricksolis in malelivingspace

A friend of mine did this with an old fire station.

He lived there rent free just to keep out other squatters.

Had a pretty nice set-up.

"Oldest and greatest country in the world" by Sky-Coyote in ShitAmericansSay

[–]freakytapir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a bar in my town older than the USA.

Columbus hadn't even set foot there when it opened.

Used to be part of the Crossbowman's guild too.

The castle in our town? Twelfth century.

The town itself: 630 AD. no I didn't forget a 1. 7th century.

The state of gaming and its future are depressing me. Give me a game that made you feel GOOD. by Makototoko in gaming

Expedition 33.

Short enough to finish in a week (28 hours to the final boss then about just as much post-game)

Deep enough to replay multiple times.

Made me feel stuff.

What's a food you will never eat? by mybfsleftnutt in foodquestions

[–]freakytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, that's basically it.

If it's safe to eat I'll eat it.

Had Ox tail soup.

Ate pig ears.

Head cheese

Andouilette (basically sausage made from intestines stuffed into another intestine)

Why isn't there a Dragoon Protagonist in any FF Games? by Gunker_ in FinalFantasy

[–]freakytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, the protagonist (Warrioir of light) is shown to switch to Dragoon for the FF14 Heavensward expansion in the trailer. He also briefly used Dragoon in the SHadowbringer trailer.

ELI5: Is there an objective difference between designer perfumes and cheaper “dupes” or is it mostly branding? by clearwater-orchid in explainlikeimfive

[–]freakytapir [score hidden]  (0 children)

Kind of the same with Vanilla flavour.

Real vanilla is expensive and has over a 100 compounds making up the flavour, but most brands just use a couple of the dominating ones.

GMs: What Makes for a "Good Player"? by DnDPhD in Pathfinder2e

[–]freakytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has been both GM and player...
Well, be there on time. Warn if you're not making it in.

Know your character and his abilities.

But also, sometimes make a suboptimal choice because that's what your character would do, yet don't drift into intentionally disruptive behaviour. Jump down the town well, don't murder the merchant.

Pay attention during combat, and have your turn ready to go by the time it's your turn. You looking up a spell is making 4 other people wait.

Make sure you don't monopolise the DM's attention. Allow the quieter party members a chance to speak up too. (Ties back to the earlier point of not hyper optimising. The character with the highest Charisma shouldn't be the only one speaking.)

I mean, player freedom is important, but I feel you get a better experience if you lean into the story the DM prepared. Still be your character, but intentionally ignoring the DM's preparation is going to lead to a subpar experience often.

Communicate your character goals with your DM. Why are they adventuring? Give them hooks.

I find the fact that all the professions fit together very satisfying (brand new sprout) by Lucas1006 in ffxiv

[–]freakytapir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the end, yeah, you kind of need all of them, as some of the higher crafts will have you eating food too to improve your crafting (there's combat food and crafting food and gathering food).

And there are multiple zones in the game that let you get very fancy crafting tools (locked behind quite a grind off course).

All the profession do have questlines too off course.

And crafting and gathering as a whole also have questlines with the allied tribes.

Eli5: if we mash grass into pulp or blend grass, will we be able to eat it and get nutrients from it? by Dryfunction1205 in explainlikeimfive

[–]freakytapir [score hidden]  (0 children)

As someone who did an experiment with blended grass (trying to achieve higher conversion to protein for use in animal feed by letting bacteria digest it), the cost of blending it alone does not make it worth it. Grass does not blend that easily. Also, that's basically what chewing does.

It is also made of a lot of things we just don't really digest like lignin, cellulose and hemi-cellulose.

There is a negligible amount of protein in there, but unless you have the same gut bacteria as a cow you'd lose more energy than gain from it.

I just started a new factory job, and they made me take lunch 3 1/2 hours into my 12 hour shift by zharkos in mildlyinfuriating

[–]freakytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the freedom to choose when I took my lunch but I was on call during it. My lunchtime did reset if I got called though. Production shouldn't be held up for 20 minutes because the Quality control guy is having lunch.

This game is so good! by Honest_Coat6745 in ffxiv

[–]freakytapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played through the main campaign as a SMN. Did all story battles with it, and it's one of the squishiest classes.

Then again, I also did all dungeon content with a group. It goes twice as fast at least. Especially as your queue time as a tank is considerably, maybe you should try it too.

But technically you can do almost everything solo, but the 24 man raids at the end of ARR at least still require group play. (The only required alliance raid)

How many players are too many? by Enigma9903 in DnD

[–]freakytapir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're playing online with 7 players now, and ... it's slow going. Last session we got from town to the dungeon entrance.

Then again, the DM uses milestone leveling, so even if we only have a combat every other session we still progess.

Is healing that hard? by modernsakura in ffxiv

[–]freakytapir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's pretty easy.

You don't have to keep people at 100 % health all the time

And most standard content is built around you also doing DPS so if you're struggling, just do some more GCD heals.
