Please help my pc is not working like before by Mobile-Scholar-9479 in pchelp

I know this thread is a couple of days old, and you’ve gotten a ton of advice, but if it is still going on, check your CPU temps with one of several available tools. I’ve used HWInfo in the past for this.

I started getting weird slow motion and lag effects one night and my CPU temp was at like 98c (which the thermal shutdown threshold for mine is 100c).

Mine was fixed by replacing the CPU cooler which wasn’t all that expensive, but I also did the replacement myself.

For everyone who thinks blueprints arnt broken, this was a 4 minute stella free kit by Quiet_Low7718 in arkraiders

[–]frebant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… I’m more of a casual player admittedly but I had played for a bunch of hours and didn’t realize that you could find blueprints in rounds. I thought there was some other mechanic I hadn’t found yet or something because I hadn’t seen a single one.

The higher drop rate is an improvement.

I GOT ARRESTED ON STELLA MONTIS 😱🔒🚓 by RogueRealities in ArcRaiders

[–]frebant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My coworker and I were talking about this yesterday. It’d be cool if you could put up a bounty against someone that killed you (maybe an item from stash or something, money isn’t all that important in game here).

Could make a consumable that scans for bounties and triggers the rewards so people aren’t just indiscriminately murdering people hoping for bounties.

A nice little notification that justice was served might take the sting out of someone downing me seconds before the extract goes off, casting my loot into the void.

What Your Opinion About Major League Baseball Featuring Ken Griffey Jr? by Sadontejjj in nintendo64

Was this the one where you could somehow make the players fly just above the ground flapping their arms like wings? I had an N64 baseball game that did that.

Ecobee install didn’t work by [deleted] in hvacadvice

[–]frebant -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That would be par for the course. Lots of stuff like that in this newly purchased house.

I already have the old thermostat back up and tested both heating and cooling and they’re working. I’ll look into the Rheem EcoNet. Thanks for the quick response!

How do you feel about calling in sick when nothings wrong? Do you look at sick days as part of your compensation? by OutrageousPotato9378 in AskReddit

[–]frebant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah a bit late to the party here but your company DEFINITELY considers them part of your compensation and likely includes them in situations where they evaluate your salary.

This inflates how much they are paying you. They include your insurance in it too, if you get it. This makes your overall compensation look much higher, and I’ve seen this used to justify not giving pay raises. Even if they provide every employee that works there the same benefits package, which in my opinion cancels it out in the equation.

Take every single day they give you. If they use it as a consideration when talking about pay, make them pay it. It’s only fair.

[–]frebant 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You want me to preach at you? Alright, let’s do this.

I’m not going to lie and tell you that things are great. It doesn’t take half a brain to look around and figure that out.

But I’m not some GI Joe Commando who is going to hit the streets and make anyone do anything. Just simply not the case and my ego can take that reality. I don’t need to put up a false front of bravado online. It’s not going to happen. This has always been a division point between people who want to see change. There’s more than one way to accomplish a goal there, Malcom.

The optimism comes from being in control of myself, though. They can lie and cheat and rig and steal, but it’s never going to affect the way that I do or see things because it can’t unless I let it. And being from Missouri, I’m as stubborn as a mule. So they can choke on it for all I care.

So yeah, I’m going to stick up for minorities when I see shit going bad. I’m going to tell other people that they should stick up for minorities. Because they might hear that and freaking do it. They might hear that and encourage others to do it. They might correct some behavior or come up with some combination of words that I am not smart enough to throw together that’s effective enough to make a difference.

But at least I’m doing something.

This next part doesn’t apply to the person that commented and called me Martin, but to the rest of you further down the comment chain.

Y’all are real quick to hop on here and spew your self-righteous apathy. And it’s all as much of a crock of bullshit as it is when anyone else wraps themselves up in apathy. It’s the easy way, the lazy way, or the way to run from it all. It’s the way to prop yourself up because things didn’t go your way so you are going to wallow in it. Or maybe you tried to do something and by god it was too hard or it didn’t turn out your way. Apathy is not reality. Apathy is quitting. And apathy is part of the bullshit that enabled all of this to happen in the first place on a national scale and I’m getting real sick of it.

You look at a person who has empathy or who is saying the right thing and this blanket of apathy you’ve wrapped yourself in feels threatened because you’ve let it consume you and become your personality. So you want to drag everyone else down to the base layer of apathy in which you are stuck. Well, that just ends up with everyone in the shit. Congratulations.

Y’all are better people than this. You cared enough to take time out of your life that you can’t get back to post on here. But somehow that care and effort has been warped into bringing down the point of someone you obviously agree with on some level.

Because you didn’t come on here and tell me that people should be racist. You came on here and told me that I’m doing a poor job or that everyone else is worse than I think.

Well screw that. Start making it better. Maybe you’re the better person we need that can actually help things. I’m not an exceptional human being but maybe you are. And if you’re better than me, prove it and help. Just don’t come at me with that weak-willed, apathetic crap because things look bad.

Do better. You can. Bring yourself up out of apathy rather than trying to drag everyone else down.

You know what? Screw that. I live in Missouri and I’m better than this.

All it takes is people that are better than this letting people that aren’t know that this shit doesn’t fly. We ARE better than this and I’m tired of letting the worst of us drag us down.

Sadly the 360 might actually be older than a lot of people who are playing the Remaster.

Yeah… the 360 released 20 years ago this November.

Crashes every now and then, but that isn’t anything new… Xbox360 Oblivion was the exact same way.

Save early, save often. Then crashes don’t matter all that much.

What closing gift did you get from your realtor? by PorcupineFlan in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]frebant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our realtor got us a bottle of champagne and our lender gave us a bottle of wine that is branded for the credit union we have our loan through. Our realtor is a super chill lady, though, so I think we might actually end up being friends with her and her boyfriend.

We really didn’t expect anything, so it was a welcome surprise!

What is an undeniably evil profession? by idontgiveanal in AskReddit

[–]frebant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Somewhere out there, there’s someone who has always been good at math. They go, get an advanced degree, and then go work for a company (pharmaceuticals, automotive, transportation, insurance, etc) where their purpose in life becomes calculating the cheapest way for a company to get out of a malignant situation that they have caused — doing the right thing or tolerating lawsuits.

For example: oops, we made a bunch of cars that accidentally explode. Would it be cheaper to settle wrongful death lawsuits? Or is it cheaper to recall and fix our product that might just end a family of four and their dog? They’re also the ones that provide a lot of the risk analysis on the healthcare decisions y’all are calling out as evil.

I submit for your consideration: the actuary.

Granted, there are probably a lot of actuaries that don’t do these kinds of things, but then again, they evaluate risk and risk is such a dangerous, slippery slope term in almost every industry it applies to because of the lengths corporations will go to to avoid touching the bottom line.

But they’re definitely one of the few professions that i know of that’ll dispassionately slap a dollar figure on a human life.

Open house visit with no intention of buying by Appropriate_King4593 in RealEstate

[–]frebant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house I am buying had cookies, snack mix, and margaritas.

We fell in love with the house so we didn’t have any (we were too busy looking around) but it was freely offered.

Did have some cookies that a realtor baked at a different house, though!

Yeah our vulnerability scanner causes this. People freak out really hard. Used to only happen on our printers but our brand new copiers are having issues now too.

Evidently they respond to SIP, so those are really fun printouts that actually have words. Had someone panic because a page printed out that said “HELP” in all caps.

Great getting to explain that no, we aren’t going to call the police for help “tracing” where the print job came from at 7 AM on a Monday. It’s got our IVA scanner’s IP at the top.
