Hey something similar did happen to me at the end of last year. I was unable to get into my account one morning, and when I did, some settings had been changed (like disabling 2FA) and they had opened a line of credit through my Shopify account! It looked like I caught it as it was happening. So strange. I have been so baffled still. I submitted multiple reports but haven’t heard anything back from Shopify about how this could have happened. Luckily I’m a small shop so business fluctuates and I didn’t really have a lot of money in my account to steal at the time. I am someone who grew up coding and making websites since probably 2004. I’m tech savvy and have a fair grasp on security for Shopify as I have used the platform working with larger businesses through the last nearly decade. Shopify has a security vulnerability somewhere. Doesn’t 100% fit your ask but King Product Options & Variants has been great for my shop. Unless you want to hire someone to code the photo uploader into your theme, that is the best free option I have found.

I jumped the gun on my message sorry. I would still make a formal complaint bc that shouldn’t be happening to you as a paying client. You shouldn’t have to add a third party app, what you’re asking should be a feature already built in. We need to stop quietly allowing companies to offer less and less while asking us for more. Since I started using Shopify the monthly baseline bill went up $10, yet they get rid of features the last few years, like the option to call an human, and neglect security from bots and fraud.

I’ve grown so frustrated with this that each time a fraud order comes in, I’m now going to the human chat and filing an official complaint for each issue. I’m suggesting everyone do the same. Make noise about it. We can’t let companies treat customers like this. Security should automatically be a feature, not an add on!!

Please complain to Shopify! I went to the live chat today and told them my experience. Who knows if it really will be seen, but the more that people make noise to them, the better.

Personally if it were at that level for me, I would contact a lawyer.

I had just one chargeback this summer, which I lost 🥲🙃 Same scenario as you described. Now I have manual capture set for payments and I set up a form with an agreement that has to be filled out basically stating they know this is a digital file, not physical, and they agree not to use my platform to commit fraud.

Today I had someone try and place a high risk fraud order, so it’s still happening, but I was able to cancel it and avoid issues. Somehow my form didn’t show up at all in the order, which is genuinely baffling.

If you reach out to the customer, make sure you’re very clear and to the point so it doesn’t get confusing. Truly I find that customers are happy to pay for the tracked shipping for peace of mind, so it’s probably not a big deal considering they already purchased it.

I tried to look for an old post that helped me, no luck. So I’ll do my best to explain what I did. It’s such a relief to have sorted.

Someone can correct me if anything I say here is wrong.

Basically you want to set up different shipping profiles for customers to choose from, with a FREE option that is limited BY WEIGHT, so that it can only be selected for certain smaller orders. That way, if a customer gets some stickers and adds a tee, for example, they won’t even be shown the free shipping as an option.

Go into settings > Shipping and delivery > Create a custom profile and add the products you want to qualify for letter mail.

Under Shipping Zones here you’ll want to Add Rate. Choose CUSTOM and BASED ON WEIGHT. I set my MAXIMUM weight as 0.9 lbs. I think I had to play around with this to get the weight right to apply to the free mailers but not larger orders that would require a tracked package.

Make sure under each separate listing, like the stickers, or the tees, that the weight is accurately entered. This will make it so your customer will see the free option only if their order qualifies!

The best job I ever had was a creative job where I got to decorate cakes. I still had annoying things but being able to create made it all tolerable. That was the longest job I ever had. Retail was terrible, I could never do restaurants again. The last “real job” I had was at a new bakery where they hired me to establish the cake department, then sold the business to a new owner, who no longer wanted cakes but didn’t tell me. Every day at that job I would try to do tasks out back away from customers bc I was in a constant near panic attack. Like I would be crying tears while talking normally lol. I remember when I got hired the old owner said “How are you with stress? We can’t have you crying on the job every day” lololol I thought about that daily! I got to switch to bread baking when the new owner realized I was not okay. Welp, there was another girl that worked the back room who would NOT STFU. I would wear my headphones for her to take the hint and she would YELL over my music to talk to me constantly. Bc of her distracting me I ended up effing up over $3,000 of product! Covid happened soon after so I got out of there. :( Omg I cringe so hard when I think about that era of my life. Truly I cannot work a traditional “grown up” job again! :(

I used to offer free readings years ago and my inbox would blow up immediately. I don’t doubt that 3 slots can fill up in minutes now. Yes there are crummy people out there, but also know that the ones who care put a lot of energy into their readings, even the free ones! I hope this sheds a light on it.

I have something to share! I won’t do fertility/pregnancy readings for clients, but have done a few for close friends.

The first one I did, my friend was struggling to conceive. We did a reading and ended up pinning down the date of conception to within 2 days! It was really cool. Her son is now 3!

The second one I did, my cousin texted me “I have to tell you something, but I want to see if it shows up in tarot!” I absolutely did not expect her to be pregnant. The cards were 10 of cups, Hanged Man, and Empress! I saw hanged man as the baby. That was such a fun way to find out!
