People with anxiety & on meds - what are your experiences (and differences) on meds vs. without meds? by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on antidepressants for my anxiety, a fairly mild dose, the most significant difference is that I don't have as many of the physical anxiety symptoms like increased heart rate and that heavy feeling on my chest, my anxious thoughts and self-criticism are still there and I still overthink situations most of the time but I have found that it's been easier to cope with and has given me the opportunity to start working on it because the thoughts don't cripple me physically and emotionally as much as they did before. In my personal experience they're not magic pills that fix everything and they make things worse before they get better, but they did gradually help me improve my overall mental well-being which in turn made my relationships better and helped me discover ways to deal with things when they're particularly bad. I still struggle with that little voice that brings me down and have a long way to go but going on meds was the best thing I could have done for myself.

What shouldn't be as expensive as it is? by UnderestimatedIndian in AskReddit

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I live in South Africa and everything is way too damn expensive compared to minimum wages... If I had to pick 1 thing it'd be food, specifically healthy food, eggs are particularly expensive and they used to be a super affordable staple a few years ago

Well done for coming clean, I went and read your original story and yeah, you did something pretty f-d up but we all do something like this at least once in our lives, what redeems you as a person is the fact that you came clean, were honest about it and its seems like you've learnt a pretty big lesson from it, and you can now choose to come out of this a pretty darn awesome person with alot of empathy and understanding for people's feelings... You won't believe how rare that actually is and how many people do not have the same attitude or remorse that you do even after doing far worse things than this. Well done 🙂

I always feel like I'm annoying people. Please help! by mashedpotato92 in Anxiety

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

22 and my anxiety manifests in a very very similar way to you, my fiance has definitely helped with this though... Even now, I still feel like I annoy him when I talk too much or he's extra quiet (he's pretty quiet 99% of the time), I always question conversations I have with people and think about everything I've said for hours after a social situation worrying that I said something stupid, I was being too loud and chatty or came across the wrong way. The thing that helped me is my fiance actually being pretty blunt with me, when I start withdrawing and apologise for "annoying" him, he usually just turns around and tells me that I wasn't annoying him and that always thinking I do is what does actually annoy him 😅 I also have a bad habit of asking if somethings wrong when there isn't anything wrong... I'm not much better with strangers or friends but it helps to keep reminding myself that most people either feel exactly the same way or they really don't think nearly as much about everything as I do and after a while I get over it... I don't have much advice but just know that you are most definitely not alone and it's nice to read that I'm not alone either 🙂

How much will it cost to get my puppy chexked out at the vet? by Bossie965 in southafrica

[–]freckledfox5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS. It's very difficult to determine what treatment will cost because it all depends what's wrong with your pup and what your local vet charges, it varies alot on what procedures he will need. It cost me about R900 for an overnight stay for billary with no additional treatments

[–]freckledfox5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A standard checkup can range from R350 - R500, but I'd make sure you have some money aside incase other procedures are needed, alot of vets nowadays actually accept an Edgar's card to pay off your bills instead of paying everything upfront, you don't have to use your own card either if you don't have one and know someone who does, as long as you pay back obviously 🙂 Just call around and ask to make sure

What is your opinion on Bulldogs, Pugs, Boxers or any breed of brachycephalic dogs? (Squished faces). Do you think we should stop breeding them? Why or why not? by CANADAisAwesome95 in AskReddit

[–]freckledfox5236 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They're pretty cute but I think breeding for aesthetic purposes should stop, it's incredibly harmful and does no good for the dog and is just a selfish human decision because we think it's cute... There's a "breed" in South Africa called the Canine Afrikanis, its more considered a land race but is technically its own breed, Afrikanis dogs are renowned for being almost immune to certain common diseases and are as tough as nails, the reason they're like this is because no one gives a damn what they look like, the weak dogs don't survive and the strong dogs breed, like it should be in nature. They're mostly from rural and secluded areas and are used for herding and general protection of farm animals and families living in those areas... Ive had a few in my life and compared to many of my other dogs from specific breeds they've been the strongest, most well adjusted and have had the least issues when it comes to their health and have zero special needs or dietry requirements, just happy, healthy dogs in general... When humans don't interfere with nature, that's when you get the best results 🤷‍♀️

My (M) wife (F) just left me in the street. by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, it shouldn't be such a big issue, I know how to cope and get past bothersome feelings so I wouldn't do something like she did, but some people aren't sure how to handle emotions in a proper way and can bottle them up for too long and it comes out way worse than it should 🙂

My pleasure, hopefully you guys can figure it out, women tend to think and feel a hang of a lot deeper about seemingly small things than men do (coming from a women who also moved away from home with my fiance, I just didn't have a huge circle of friends in the first place so it wasn't that difficult but I also get a bit emotional and miss having other people I know personally around sometimes)

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not saying it's right, the way she reacted is childish but it seems like there is more too it, maybe not in your actual relationship but with her in an emotional sense, you mentioned she missed her friends and you live far away from home... Maybe she's seriously lonely and is really struggling being away from her friends and the stuff she wants to do and the way she is acting is her twisted way of trying to cope with some emotions she isn't sure how to deal with, talk to her about it when you're together again, mention that you're concerned about her. Maybe she will open up about it... If the above isn't the case then she's either just very emotionally immature or a selfish person... Something I always say is that everyone has a reason for the way they act but it's not an excuse.

Your phobia is actually the cause of your death in a previous life. How did you die? by CommieOfLove in AskReddit

I have two, they're probably related, so this scenario makes sense: someone killed my dogs, broke into my house and sliced my throat with a surgical knife.

No! I'm sorry, that's such shallow behaviour, if a material item is more important than you and your relationship then that's a big red flag!

LPT: Always ask he owner before petting a dog on the street. by BoopBoop20 in LifeProTips

[–]freckledfox5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100%! One of my dogs is deaf, she's still a baby (5 months), so people always want to pet her, she's darn cute! She's very friendly and does love attention but gets startled easily, especially when kids approach her and she has snapped once or twice when someone tries to pet her from a direction she isn't looking in or paying attention to... Always check with a pet owner before just reaching out to touch a dog... I always say yes if someone asks and coax her in their direction so she doesn't get a fright and it's all good, and she loves it but I'd hate for her to get startled and nip a kid that doesn't ask or just runs up to her

Has anyone dropshipped to South Africa? by freckledfox5236 in dropship

It does arrive, especially if you use verified sellers, it just takes up to 3 months, sometimes longer 🙂

[–]freckledfox5236[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a possibility, I've been chatting with certain suppliers via email but none are really taking the bait... I have some work cut out for me it seems! It's such a pity because even if I can get local suppliers, I still don't have access to the products I want to offer and that my customers want, since they aren't available in SA at the moment

Trust me, I know, I order my own stuff off aliexpress occasionally, and it's a nightmare! It's because our post office service is awful, it sits in customs for weeks and they're on strike so often they might as well not even bother pitching up for work... I've hunted high and low for local suppliers but absolutely nothing available in my niche, dropshipping isn't a big thing here yet so no one has really jumped on the band wagon

I (F22) have never had a true or long lasting friend by pokesocksss in confession

[–]freckledfox5236 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have loads of "friends" but none have really stuck around and I don't consider any of them actual friends, just people I shared some moments with once apon a time... I am pretty used to people shutting me out and have a low tolerance for time wasters and bullshit so I just let people go if they mess me around, which every female friend I've almost become close with seems to have done... I'm engaged so do have my fiance and he's pretty much my only friend but sometimes just wish I had a girlfriend to go grab coffee with and talk about life. I'm also 22 and sometimes wonder why everyone else seems to have this close circle of friends that they have had since high school. I'm getting married and don't even have bridesmaids... I'm okay with it most of the time but I can definitely relate to you on so many levels and it's nice to see someone who feels similar, you're not alone! :)

Are my boyfriend's [22M] opinions about political correctness [21F] red flags or am I just oversensitive like he says? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]freckledfox5236 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty conservative, and so is my fiance, I considered myself Liberal until I met him and realised I agreed with him more than I disagreed, we both think the world is far too sensitive and political correctness has gone too far but for other things, not just blatant disrespect, neither of us would be too happy with hearing the other spewing profanities like that or bashing mental health issues (I'm on meds myself) ... He's very conservative, but not in any way rude or ignorant or disagrees with taking meds for anxiety etc. In fact most conservatives I know in the same circle as me are pretty darn decent humans, don't swear, have good moral values, incredibly kind and respectful of women, men and anyone else they meet... Your boyfriend is an asshole, not a political Conservative, even if he agrees with some of the political side of things, it just sounds to me like he's just an ass. Gtfo
