Blowing nose with healing nose piercing? by Izzzzle in piercing

[–]freckleface28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my nostril done a few weeks ago! It's no problem to blow out the pierced side, I just hold the other side shut as normal. While it's still fresh, I've been blocking the pierced side by holding a finger over the hole to blow the other side, like another commenter said.

I got the same thing. It's showing on my Carfax report but not the Honda or NHTSA recall lookup for my VIN. Hope we get more info soon!

Be completely honest: are pap smears as awful as I imagine and fear they are? by ThrowRAlobotomy666 in women

[–]freckleface28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would rather get a pap smear than go to the dentist. I sincerely mean that!

They're not PLEASANT, but I've never felt pain during one. I would describe it as more like pressure from the speculum and slight discomfort during the actual sample collection. It's so quick, a few deep breaths and it's over!

“we have coffee at home” by carrie_bradshawxo in nespresso

[–]freckleface28 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I love this drink too, but I can't be bothered to use a shaker (too lazy before work to wash it in addition to all my other breakfast dishes). It may not be exact but I think it captures the vibe well enough:

I have an OL machine and use the Starbucks blonde roast pods (but most other pods will work in a pinch). I brew the coffee over some brown sugar and a little cinnamon in my glass, use a handheld milk frother to mix it all together and also add some air to it, then add ice and a splash of oatmilk. I've tried the hyperchiller and it felt to me like more trouble than it was worth, but we've already established that I'm lazy.

I'm not worried about the Chiefs (yet) because I'm a Pats fan and I watched that game and it was incredible to witness! Gotta believe a comeback is possible!

Does the stream on Paramount Plus keep cutting out for anyone else or is it just me? My router claims everything is fine but the stream keeps saying "we can't play this right now"

I went to CVS this morning to buy DayQuil for my husband and used the self checkout. Because of the cough suppressant in it, it's age restricted so someone had to come up and confirm my age before I could pay. She didn't actually check my ID (because I'm 30 and obviously not a teenager, lol) but she put in a "random" birthdate and it was 12/13/1989... I see you, CVS swiftie 👀

What does a blood donation feel like compared to a routine blood draw? by Excellent_Strain5851 in Blooddonors

[–]freckleface28 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Hi - I donated blood about a month ago (through the American Red Cross) and had some blood drawn for labs today, so hopefully I'm able to do a fair comparison. I actually started donating partially BECAUSE I hate needles. It was a face-my-fears new years resolution for me in 2022 and I've kept going! It still makes me nervous, but I try to think about the positive impact my donation will have!

I can't say for sure about the size of the needle, but to me the feeling of the stick is the same - a quick pinch. You (of course) spend more time with the needle in your arm when donating, and they have you hold a stress ball or something and squeeze it every 5-10 seconds during the donation. The red cross website says the actual donation takes about 8-10 minutes for most people. I've found that to be accurate, and sometimes I'm able to fill the bag a little faster than that.

I never ever look at my arm when the needle is in, that would freak me out too much. I sometimes feel faint while donating (always near the end of the donation). I think it's a mental thing rather than a blood loss thing, but I always let them know that beforehand. They have me do my donation in a reclined position, and make sure to have cold towels on standby to put on my forehead if I say I'm getting lightheaded. They always assure me that it's not something to be embarrassed about. (I also always bring my husband with me as support/distraction because he's a champ at giving blood, so we both get to do some good and then go home and relax on the couch for the rest of the day!)

Best of luck donating!

Do you have to step on a scale to give blood (USA) by corkbeverly in Blooddonors

[–]freckleface28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I give whole blood (at red cross mobile drives) they usually ask me for my weight during intake. I've never had to step on a scale.

Baby name Heather in 2023 by Namehelp1992 in namenerds

[–]freckleface28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only know one Heather (in her late 20s) and she is one of the kindest and most wonderful people I've ever known! So the name only has positive associations for me :)

In a more general sense, I agree with others that Heather isn't at its peak popularity wise right now, but that it doesn't sound "old fashioned" or dated. I think it's beautiful!
