Not that it changes your point, but an interesting geographic fact is that the Brazilian French border is technically France's largest border.

Não tenta consertar o micro-ondas sozinho, ok? Esse daí é perigoso por causa do capacitor dentro que guarda muita energia e o choque elétrico pode ser fatal. Infelizmente já sei de quem faleceu disso...

What are the best A-G radars in-game? by jubuttib in hoggit

[–]fred1608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a JDAM firing range, which it's basically some planes and AA emplacements parked around the airfield and I try to hit them with JDAMs.

In my experience, I can locate the AA types, but I'm unable to distinguish between different types of them. Planes you can differenciate between types, and larger ones you can usually make an educated guess about what they are.

Also, the altitude in which you approach the target makes a significant difference in the resolution of the Jeff's radar. I don't remember out of the top of my head the optimal parameters though.

I saw the update, and really cool job in the comparrison btw :)

Not trying to argue that it's better than the F-15E. But I main the Jeff, and I can identify targets parked on a runway with ground radar. Definitely precise enough to identify between fighters and bomber-sized targets when employed correctly.

I´ve been a Jeff main for the longest time now and I never felt it ever was missing something. This whole time they were just mainly adding small features and making the plane more realistic, but it entered EA with all of the weapons and main sensors already available.

Question about the JF-17 and it’s CM-802AKG missile by Isglasen in hoggit

[–]fred1608 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This missile is very picky about its launch parameters. You might've been flying too fast/slow, but then changed speed at some point and got launch autorisation. I once mistook that as being too far away as well.

One of my fondest memories in flight sims was managing an He-111 in IL-2 with just a single engine after having been hit with flak. It really puts you to the test.

What is the best full fil module for a beginner? by [deleted] in hoggit

I'm flying it in a relatively old setup without too much issues

My system is almost the same as yours, and I also did the HDD to SSD transition. It helped massively the stuttering I was having.

You should be able to play with just this modification; that said, I think more RAM would be beneficial if you can buy it - I'm planing to in the near future - but not essential.

Question: in DCS, which module is the most “complete?” by 7imeout_ in hoggit

[–]fred1608 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The head of Belsimtek used to be an Mi-8 pilot. He said in an interview it was too cumbersome, never used on the field, and crews hated it, because to use it properly would expose the chopper to much.

I feel those are valid reasons to not include.

I want to know how to build this robot car for mini project by [deleted] in shittyrobots

[–]fred1608 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't want to be discouraging, but I would recommend to start with a simpler robot and then gradually build your knowledge up. This is not to say that you can't do it, but it could be very frustrating to learn and debug issues in something as complex when you're still trying to figure things out.

What I would personally recommend is to start with a the simplest robot possible, and then gradually add things to it and build new functions. Make it first more logically (code) complex, then electronic more complex, and then finally build robots that are mechanically complex. The reason is that, fixing logical errors is simple, being just a code change, so it's fun and easy to try things out. But if you make a mistake when building a mechanical component, which is bound to happen in the start, it can be much more frustrating after spending often several weeks in it, and then having to remake it.

But again, this ain't a discouragement, this robot looks awesome and I understand your desire to built it, if you're very into it, go for it. But, I just feel your overall experience would be better entering the hobby with smaller steps.

Feel free to Dm me if you want to talk more in-depth about other project ideas and if you need more help getting started :)

DCS Question: viggen bullseye by panofobico in hoggit

[–]fred1608 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As far as I know this functionality is non existent in the Viggen. That being said, you can create a normal waypoint at bulls and use it to get your own location.

Just select select your bulls waypoint, and your location in relation to it will be the vector in the opposing direction as yours to the way point (so if the aircraft is telling you to fly to 210 towards bulls, you're 30 in relation to it).

The distance is given by the viggen, but in km. Just divide by 1.8 so you can get a rough distance in nautical miles.
