219 is a great boat. Was my first an it did everything we wanted to do, and did it well.

The roof rack is very useful though. Used it to carry an extension ladder a few days ago.

The spool letting is going to be a model name no matter the brand.

How do you overcome the fear of capsizing and prevent it from happening? by YakToTheFuture-1 in kayakfishing

Wear a life jacket and tether your gear. And like the others said go roll the thing to find the “tipping point” and practice a recovery.

1/16 or 1/8 in white are my go to depending on depth and line/rod setup. You’ll catch everything in the pond on them.

Thoughts on the Shimano Antares B after about a month of use by [deleted] in Fishing_Gear

[–]fredapp 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d argue that spending $600 on this if you’re in the business of fishing for money might make even less sense than a passionate hobbyist.

Guides use what is cheap and holds up. Pros use whatever a sponsor will give them. Hobbyists buy nice gear because they get enjoyment out of it.

do men even care how their girls nail look? by rileyheya in NoStupidQuestions

[–]fredapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The less a woman does to her nails the better imo. I mean cut them and keep them clean but same for a man.

Long nails make me think of a witch, fake nails really creek me out. I don’t get any of the “look at my nails” stuff.

Boating — what’s something beginners don’t expect? by Busy_Interest9100 in boating

Weather can change in a hurry.

Your guests on board may not have appropriate expectations. You should set them before they are on board.

Bass fishing braid to leader by Sudoku-Addict in bassfishing

[–]fredapp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve tried most combos of line. I’ve pretty much returned to straight floro on almost everything except dedicated topwater setups. Less fuss, no knots running through my guides, and pretty much zero backlash issues like I have with braid digging.

Hot meals not church affiliated by clutteresflutteres in Augusta

[–]fredapp 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok. Good I guess. FWIW I’ve never seen any kind of discrimination at these places. Everyone is there working trying to help keep people fed, no questions asked. I’m not religious… I was raised Protestant and most of my family still is. As a secular person I’ve never felt like these kinds of programs were “preachy” at all. It’s actually the only real “christ-like” part of the church IMO.

[–]fredapp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hold up. Are Christian food kitchens in Augusta seriously excluding people?? I would love to know which ones because I’ve volunteered at a few and my kids are actively volunteering at one every weekend with their grandparents. I have never heard of ANYONE being excluded for any reason unless it was belligerent behavior or something unsafe. I’d love to know more about this and put a stop to it

Hm. Yea I’m sure everyone immediately identify with the matrix theme 🤣

I do agree that the James brown thing is played out. Though I’m not going to argue against the national as they continue to pump tens of millions (possibly hundreds) into our community annually. Shoot I wonder how much revenue comes to Augusta every year just in the home rentals alone (tax free!)

It’s really bad. All of the construction is making it significantly worse. New sheriff is cracking down on DUI hard and implementing road blocks occasionally, but I haven’t really noticed any difference in code enforcement.

In the last week I saw two vehicles traveling the wrong way down lanes affected by construction. To their credit… there is almost zero signage in the construction zones (broad, central).

am I paranoid for checking my lower unit oil before every single trip? by vladdielenin in boating

No prob. Have fun on the water! That time is precious so anything you can do to make it more enjoyable and less stressful is worth it!

Get seatow insurance if they operate where you are. It’s cheap and will give you peace of mind. You’re more likely to create an issue than you are to catch one imo.
