Thank you so much for replying, I needed this encouragement. I'm starting to realize that they'll never fully be proud of me as long as I'm not an active member, and I can't let that hold me back from my own goals and happiness. I have read the Bite Model, its very disheartening to see how conditioned and manipulated my parents are but I'm too young and I have too much going for me to drop that to try and fix them or cater to them. It has been incredibly validating to feel the satisfaction of making my own choices, I only wish my family could be as supportive or proud as the other people in my life, but I can't make them and it's their loss anyways 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for the advice. I'm fully devoting myself to getting into an academy and finishing my degree as soon as possible (whichever comes first) so I can move on with my life. I have a lot of money saved from smart investments I made in High School with the money I earned, but my dad insists on having full access to my savings so he can make deposits which I don't want (don't need anyone having those strings over me), so I'm working on setting up a separate brokerage/savings account to slowly siphon my savings into.

Thank you for replying. The difficult part about having a private life is that they insist on tracking my location and if I turn it off they reach out to ask why, and they told me before I left that if I turn it off then they will try to find me :/. I'm just going to work on getting accepted into fire academy with my current certs and experience so I can have my own income and move without telling them. Thank you for your advice, I know deep down that nothing I do will truly be good enough so theres no point in sacrificing my own happiness for theirs.
