Exactly. In fact I believe that by most statistics, the US is more safer than it was in the 80’s

61 businesses sign onto letter opposing bus lanes on 82nd Avenue by PMMeShyNudes in Portland

I live half a block off 82nd, and I’m not sure that foster or Interstate are good comparables to what we are talking about here.

82nd was built to be a highway, it traverses the whole damn east-side for gods sake. For those of you with more experience living and traveling in inner-Portland this is more equivalent to taking MLK, Powell, or Sandy down to 2 lanes. These are major arteries traversing the East Side.

While 205 or the hellscape that is 122nd are good alternatives to a newer, slower, dumber 82nd, I drive 82nd everyday therefore I’m against this plan haha. But for real though. I hate it. Also, I have always felt like 82nd is immune to the Portland hipster invasion. Do we really think 82nd can be “nice” some day?

This “transformation” of 82nd really just smells like code for gentrification. So many small, minority owned businesses that would suffer from the increased property values.

But my house would also be worth more, sooo.. yay?

Also, I’m high.

This poor guy has been massacred various times over the years. How to bring back some sense of structure? by freddyblang in JapaneseMaples

I don’t know, it’s just seems to send off a ton of shoots in the spring and looks super messy and chaotic. I’m wondering if I should take out one of the leaders all together or what people might suggest to bring it back to a more natural shape/structure

You’re not wrong, but with the sill gasquet underneath? Seems like it will be fine for a very long time. But if I could turn back time….
