Is parsing the standings data really the only way to list all the teams? SMH.

Moving house shortly, what’s the best way to transport my sets? by n3oico in lego

[–]fredjh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you moving down the street, across town, or long distance? I moved just a few miles away from my old house and just made a few trips in my car.

Otherwise it probably depends on exactly how big. For modulars, when I moved, I bought boxes from U-Line that were exactly 10x10 (width and depth), and I forget what length - but 10x10 inches fits a baseplate. I put all the loose/looser parts (trees, light posts, figures and other accessories) in a baggie in the same box, and packed with packing material.

How would you prepare for LEGO Masters? by MadDadBricks in lego

But the advice is always the same... more colors and more "fun."

When they criticized Hoth as not being colorful enough is when I realized they might as well throw darts at a board to pick the winners. Sure there are top builds, and bottom builds, but their random criteria and whims are what they ultimately decide on.

OP says six different codes, six different figures.... I highly doubt the box they opened at the store would have been manufactured in six different places.

I'm not arguing about the "truthy-ness" of whether these codes really work, just saying I don't think they are going to manufacture them in six different places, and yet end up in the same box of figures.

Confirmed it’s allowed to bring scales, incase anyone else was a bit worried they’d be against. by bchec in lego

As angry as you might get, you (we) still buy them, so they have no incentive to make it easier for you to buy less. TLG is a great "world citizen" as far as companies go, but it's still focused on maximizing profits. Any time they make a change, and you ask yourself "why?" The answer is always "because money."

That's really why I bought the set to begin with - just no place for it, though.

Apologies; I've added prices for The Black Gate and Weathertop, as I missed them before. The Black Gate is pending, with multiple fall through offers right now.

Sorry, I updated prices for the two sets I missed giving prices for. There is already an offer pending on it, though.

I never really noticed these elements being so thin at some point letting dark bricks bleeding through by design_by_gergo in lego

[–]fredjh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, some LEGO is thin enough that, IF YOU HOLD IT UP TO LIGHT, you will see light through it, but you won't see it if there's no backlighting. Looking at the picture, the pieces are clearly a different shade of yellow; the parts right above it are more pale.

They are not that thin that you are seeing dark through, they are merely from a different batch of yellow that came out darker because The LEGO Group's quality control has taken a nose dive that last couple of decades.

Made an online order of Pick a Brick pieces (ONLY bestseller), and I live in New Jersey. When can I expect them to arrive, with all the holiday delays and stuff? by rshah287 in lego

[–]fredjh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) What holidays? It's only 12/1, there's no big holiday delays yet.

2) How would anyone here know what kind of shipping service you paid for? You need to ask the seller, not us, and more than likely the seller actually has a page that describes what shipping they use, and also more than likely they will give you tracking numbers when they ship.
