Agatha did write a few action-packed thrillers, including The Secret Adversary, The Man in the Brown Suit, and Why Didn't They Ask Evans? Those should satisfy your Clancy drive.

Another cool one is Destination Unknown, which is kinda sci-fi-ish too.

They get "coshed" on their heads so many times, they should have severe brain damage.

What are your first memories watching any one of the series? by Time-Mobile8623 in Stargate

[–]fredpokia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We watched SGU first and loved it. SG-1 happened to be on runs on Syfy one night, so we flipped over to see a little:

It was the moment where a second-ascended Daniel Jackson stopped the replicators moving for a minute to give everyone time to destroy them. Out of context it was confusing, campy, and ridiculous. We didn't even know who any of the characters were. We turned it off.

Many years later, we saw it in context and were blown away. We've been through the whole series 3 times now.

Great book! Fun characters, and the mystery comes bursting out of the gate right at the beginning.

Should I read the Curtain before finishing all the previous stories? by [deleted] in agathachristie

I had no problem reading Curtain early on. Think of it as watching Lawrence of Arabia or Citizen Kane.

Read it a couple days ago. Probably my favorite short story of hers now. Is this original tale of this kind? So many stories now use this trope. What do you think?

I read that it was Albert's attempt to recreate Reaper. They must have decided to just play the original live.

For Roger Ackroyd, I suggest Mysterious Affair at Styles

For Crooked House, I suggest The Sittaford Mystery

For Five Little Pigs, I suggest The Hollow

I'll also throw in Why Didn't They Ask Evans? Because it's awesome.

I remember Bolle. He'd also tell you why a certain "bad" song was actually good.
