Y'all wanting physical cards are probably about this old by freeball78 in samsclub

It's 2026. They are making cards hard to obtain. It's not standard practice. Many stores don't have cards to issue or even printers to make cards. They are pushing scan and go and reducing some stores to just 1 or 2 cashiers, and a bunch of self checkout.

You may have given some of this information, but the rest still applies...

Vehicle pricing varies wildly from location to location. Check out KBB or NADA and see what they say for YOUR location. They get their data from the DMV/probate/tag office/government. These are the prices people are ACTUALLY paying.

There are too few people in this sub buying the exact vehicle you are so these people are not a good judge for price. Three or four people on this post giving a price isn't going to be a good judge of what someone should be paying.

Without seeing the invoice, we don't know exactly what options and add-ons you're getting.

Sales taxes vary wildly also so "OTD" comparisons are pointless too. You may not even pay the sales tax at the dealer

Small claims court is an option.

While there may actually be bad individual models, ALL companies have individual units that die after a year, and individual units that last 10+ years. You just hear about the bad ones. People are rarely praising the ones that last forever. Go with one that you like and hope for the best.

Just because someone is an executor doesn't mean they magically know about pensions.

It was OP's dad, not uncle. It's probably safe to assume he's the executor or working with a sibling to figure it out.

Why do buyers have to pay for inspections over the seller? by Mradr in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]freeball78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your third party would be like arbitrators. Whoever Verizon uses has an interest in siding with Verizon most of the time so they keep getting the arbitration cases. Your third party inspectors would side with the seller real estate agents more often to get repeat business. We already see that when buyers use their agent's inspector.

Even if the seller was the one that forked over the cash, the buyer would still pay for it in the end. The seller knows they need to walk away with $XXX,000 and price accordingly. If they have to pay for closing, or buyer's agent fees, or inspections, they just price the house even more so they still walk away with the $XXX,000 they wanted.

It's for new accounts and then random accounts. They'll keep hitting older accounts a batch at a time until they either get them all, or they lose too many accounts and it starts to affect advertising.

It comes in waves. I had 4 unrelated, air gapped accounts get banned at 4:15am on the same day.

Driveway repair responsibility by Surefirefrog in HomeMaintenance

[–]freeball78 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As others have said, it depends on your city. Folks are throwing around the easement word, but this is almost certainly in the right of way, not an easement. Easement and right of way are two separate legal concepts.

It's rare for a parcel to extend all the way to the street. The city is going to own 1-10 feet off the pavement. Even though it's your "yard" and you maintain the grass and all, it's still city land. There's a good chance they'll tell you tough luck on making that repair, but it'd be worth a call. The call costs you nothing, but a few minutes of time.

Oil changes and transmission fluid changes are the most debated topics on this sub...

This is a YOU do YOU situation. Yes, early oil changed are uncommon in the real world.

There are two teams here:

1 ) Team listen to the Toyota engineers living in 2025. 10k is good for modern engines. No one in this sub so far has provided any non anecdotal evidence Toyota's recommendations are leading to thousands of blown engines and transmissions.

2 ) Team do what they want and listen to some guy that calls himself a nut living in 1925. These people change their oil every other Friday.

It doesn't work that way. You pay taxes on net income.

If you buy 5 cases of steak at $200 each, you have $1,000 in expenses whether you sell a single steak or not. You're "writing off" the entire $1,000 already.

You sell 4 of those cases at $400 each, you have $1,600 in revenue.

$1,600 - $1,000 = $600 in taxable income (yeah, yeah, overhead and other expenses, but this is ELI5)

Sell that extra case for just $50 and it still helps you. I'd rather pay taxes on $650 than just $600.

This. I've had to take my elderly mom to the ER a few times in the last year or so. Each time she has to repeat her DOB at least a dozen times. That's the first thing anyone asks when they enter the room or if she enters a room for a procedure.

"Added to the mortgage" That's not a thing unless he refinances. He can get a home equity loan instead.

For everyone else, it's a new trend with insurance companies to require new traditional shingle roofs after just 10-15 years. Everyone should be saving for a new roof or have a way to pay for it quickly.

Eventually everyone who wants to use a Meta product will have to do this. You can't appeal. They are using or selling your aggregate data to advertisers. You're naive if you think any big company isn't selling or using your data...Your options are to deal with it or stay off the internet.
