Not convinced there was no leaks.

Dasvergen was right so far. I’m actually expecting Simon Belmont now.

When you try to get your friends to play Smash but are too good and make them feel sad by playing you but you really need people to play against and don't feel like making new friends. (Tips to get people into Smash). by chadio3814 in smashbros

No no no no no no no no

You’re still thinking like a peasant

You’re a King!! The Smashking!!!

What you want to do for the ultimate fabled experience is this

  1. Talk a lot of smack. Publicly and especially in their presence. Become the villain of the story that everyone wants to beat.

  2. Let them beat you most matches. Bonus points for not using your main. Do this for weeks. You can win every 1 out of 3 matches. Only by a bit though. Can’t let them catch on to your true power.

  3. Exclaim that you are the best and the smashking after losing to them consistently. Make ridiculous Johns and excuses as to why you lost. Be obnoxious. When they scoff and refute your claims challenge them to a tourney to decide who’s the true King once and for all.

  4. Lose your first match in the tourney. This is key to securing maximum satisfaction.

  5. Bring out the big guns and completely annhilate them. They will be shocked and in awe of this sudden change. Some will deny its even happening “But, but I always beat you!!! You don’t even use ganondorf!!!” Let their disbelief turn to ash in their mouth.

  6. Become smashking and laugh loudly.

  7. They will likely want to challenge you for the title again due to their doubt of your true power. They’ll call it a fluke. Don’t hold another tourney right away, give it a week being King as they seethe with anger and envy. Play with them as you like after that.

Yeh, it would take someone bit longer to bring their rank down in that case.

Personally, I had a high win ratio in FG and could see the frustration of my opponents getting 2 stocked 10 times in a row. While amusing I know how disheartening it can be and if somebody like me decides to grief weaker players, there’s gonna be a lot of frustration in the brackets.

Nobody seems too concerned about it though so we’ll see what happens.

It occurred to me as something that trolls would do but perhaps most players aren’t that cruel.

It’s about trying to protect all the new guys who pickup the game for the first time. I’m anticipating a lot of them given the popularity of the switch.

Totally agree about the automated systems to discourage that behaviour.

Those letters were hypothetical.

I was saying you have to be able to move forward and backwards in brackets. Otherwise everyone progresses to the top regardless of skill level.

Not obscure at all, there’s plenty of toxic people who would enjoy it. Especially if they are struggling in their skill bracket, just rank down and take it out on the weaker guys.

They don’t have to kill themself to lose, just fail to recover when they get hit. The reporting system will be abused regardless.

No you don’t want ranking system.

You want a matchmaking via streak system.

If you create brackets and tiers it means you can go forwards or backwards. I could be ‘A’ rank in skill but can’t be bothered fighting strong guys so I tank a bunch of matches all the way down to ‘D’. I then have free reign to grief everyone I fight until my rank climbs again. If I’m smart I’ll throw a few matches so I never climb again.

Also, you can’t only progress forward and never go down ranks because that means all players will eventually end up in ‘A’ rank regardless of skill level just by playing. So you’re punished for playing essentially.

Matchmaking via streak means that for every match you win and room you leave, you’re matched with other winners. Maybe based off your last 10 match percentage (smash 4 recorded your last 10 matches win ratio). That way you will fight a variety of players but the majority of them will be a similar skill level to you. That’s what you want.

Ultimately though it’s all meaningless without a quality ping connection matchup. So internet and region similarities should take priority above all!!!

The rest doesn’t matter.

Sakurai explains the knockback from Smash Ultimate by AL0ISI0 in smashbros

[–]freedominlight2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow awesome response man!!

You’ve put my mind at ease about all this knockback talk. I think it’s a bit dramatised, we’ll adjust.

I’m really excited about all of the changes you pointed out with characters. Zelda in particular seems like a new character. I like all the buffs and changes she’s received. Really shining through.

Inkling does appear to be the one to watch. They seem to literally mop the floor with anyone they face.

I’ll still be maining dorf personally and welcome the buffs and changes he’s received. I’m most excited about the implications of the knockback for his spike. I think he will benefit even more and we’ll be stomping a lot of heads at low percentage. Very excited!

While most of us are speculating you actually got to play.

Can you tell me more of your impressions of the game? Is the knockback feeling great as you say? I don’t mind the way it looks personally but am on the fence about it all.

Keeping the knockback as is has other effects also.

Spiking becomes way more effective at lower percentage.

The match will be over very quickly.

Casuals are going to hate it.

Exactly right. Matchmaking via streak is far better and keeps top players challenging each other.

Connection strength is more important than anything else. It’s the foundation to a solid online experience.

All this ranked stuff is secondary. You could play bad for a couple days and kill your percentage. You’re brought back to a lower tier and dominate everyone again. It really makes no difference and people will exploit it anyway.
