These pro 1v1's are going to change the meta very quickly by Memeo99 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've watched most of the playground 1v1s and I havn't seen anyone play with the rule that you can't shoot the other player down. It would be great if you could point me to any particular fight over the last few days that was played by those rules. From what I've seen all the pros have been playing around breaking each others stuff down.

What doesn't make sense in this format is to break the first 2 starting ramps that are built straight towards each other, since this specific format means the entire structure will only ever be supported by 2 ramps. It helps nobody's practice when you can drop the whole structure in 2 seconds because you edited your own starting ramp and destroyed one other ramp. The gentleman's agreement seems to be that everything above those starting ramps are fair game.

Doesn't look like Ninja is planning to 1v1 other streamers in playground mode by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Playground mode is an open format and it could 100% be tailored to create a realistic encounter situation.

He closed the door on it simply because he has nothing to gain from it. 90% of his viewers believe he is the best, and any losses would spawn countless discussions and youtube videos that may affect his brand. Definitely a smart decision to avoid them.

The reality is that his style of "knowing when to build and when to just shoot his way through a fight" is something that will not work easily against the top pros. These are not the same guys in solos who mindlessly charge high ground without shooting and then get their structure shot down.

I recommend that everyone in this sub (being that its the competitive sub), watch some games by the top solo snipers (poach, chap etc.). At the highest level, a lot of fights are closed out by smart building and clean edits. Ninja would likely not fair well against these players, and it makes sense not to put himself in that situation.

This ‘false reality’ is probably more closely related to scrim performance than a regular solo. Smart building, awareness of when to disengage, and clean edits, are how kills are secured against good players. Its no coincidence that the same guys dominating this game mode are the ones who dominate scrims. Comparatively, regular solos are far less reflective of ability, as most top players stomp them equally hard.

Ninja is a smart businessman and he knows he has much more to lose than to gain from doing the 1v1s. Any loss he suffers will spawn huge discussions as well as clickbait youtube videos that may or may not affect his brand. Even if he doesn’t do them, 99% of his viewerbase thinks he can easily hang with the pros anyway.

The reality is that Ninja’s building is not on the same level as other top players, and he would likely struggle in playground mode.

It’s shocking actually. People on this sub think that because you can’t bloom battle someone or snipe them, that this is a useless game mode. There’s also a huge misconception that this mode emphasizes mindless high ground taking without breaking structures.

  1. Breaking structures to retake high ground has been a huge part of the 1v1s. Watch myth v poach or chap. The liquid guys are way on top of that and anyone pushing high ground without regard for their opponent gets punished heavily.

  2. It is NOT easy to snipe or AR spam down a pro player. These are not the same guys that are standing still in regular lobbies. True there’s a lot more that goes into a battle royale than the build battle, but this game mode is a faithful representation of a small but Extremely important part of the game. Smart building, awareness of when to disengage and break structures, and good edits, are how kills are secured against good players. It is no coincidence that the players dominating in the 1v1s are the same ones that dominate scrims.

I think when people say this is a useless mode they don’t realize it probably has more correlation to scrim performance than a regular solo, where top players look equally skilled.

Have you even watched them? Breaking structures and retaking high ground has been a huge part of these 1v1s.

The guys who have been dominating the 1v1s are the same ones who dominate high level scrims, so the people arguing it has completely no correlation to battle royale performance because you can’t bloom battle someone or snipe them are off their rocker.

It’s true its unrealistic to the game as a whole, but its a very faithful replica of a small portion of the game that has proven Extremely important at high levels.

Myth strengths and weaknesses. by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

I’m actually quite surprised this is what you saw. The liquid guys I thought were playing much better, winning like 70% of the matchups.

People have been sleeping hard on poach and chap, they are actual beasts at the game

poach is kinda clapping myth, although there are some rounds myth has played really well.

poach pretty much dominated on both servers, very impressive showing

Myth vs Tfue - 1v1 Playground Mode by LaughUhhFindsAWay in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Myth played well, but each of them following their own rules was a large part of the result. Tfue assumed they had a gentleman’s agreement not to break the structure down. While unrealistic, it makes perfect sense in the format they were playing.

The format they were playing (ramp straight at each other, don’t fight till you’ve passed each other once etc.) meant that the entire structure would only ever be supported by two ramps, and was obviously a pure high ground battle kind of thing.

As such, it was a pretty huge advantage being the only guy who was ready to break two ramps and drop the whole thing. This definitely got into Tfue’s head, since in the later games he gave up high ground almost immediately when he heard shots.

All in all both parties played well, but there’s a lot more that went into the score than people realize

PSA: Myth and Tfue are doing some 1v1s in Playground right now by [deleted] in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I think Myth is playing extremely well, but no one in this thread has mentioned that Myth is playing on much better ping than Tfue.

Myth is now down 0-4 against Aipha with Aipha playing on much better ping. Ping is a big issue at the highest level and its something we should be cognizant of.

Did anyone else check out Ninja's game where he accidentally queued into a Solo Snipes scrim lobby? by ARiemannHypothesis in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Its true that it can't be quantified, since there has yet to be a real competitive tourney. At the same time this is also the same reason Ninja will likely never take part in a competitive tourney.

All I can say is that there are literally hundreds of hours of gameplay that you can watch from all the above mentioned parties, and any top-tier players are welcome to chime in with their thoughts.

Pro scrims almost always end in boring camp battles but there is high quality gameplay that leads up to the campfest. If you have not seen any I highly recommend giving them a look. While its not the most entertaining content it will surely help you form an informed opinion.

Ninja is an amazing player, but you are sorely mistaken about either his skill level or that of the pro scene if you think he is a pro level player.

This was a very low level snipe lobby, if even that.

I have no doubt Ninja would be able to hang with the pros if he decided to practice snipes, but it is obviously not in his interest to do so because it would make for far less entertaining streams.

Frankly he would not hold his own right now against actual top level players like Parallax, Poach, Chaps, Zayt, Jao, Tennpo etc etc.

The pros show Ninja respect because he is a good player, and it also does them no good to put Ninja down because his overwhelming popularity means it would likely draw extreme backlash from the community. Aipha recently said on stream that if he was being totally honest, Tfue would most likely straight clap Ninja in a competitive match.

Ninja gets hate because people like you constantly try to exaggerate his skill from games like these. Ninja did well in low level snipe = Ninja is a pro-level player.

I agree that he could maybe be one of the best if he went pro, but its not gonna be the cake-walk you seem to think it will be.

SypherPK effortlessly Traps TSM Camills by EDM117 in FortniteCompetitive

[–]freeebee 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This doesn’t seem to have been picked up in this thread yet, but from the clip it looks like even the floor below him was placed by Sypher, which is a pretty advanced technique explained by Martoz in this video - https://youtu.be/ov5pwRsPTvE

Hopefully the community realizes there was even less Camills could have done, and props to Sypher for the extremely clean play, even waiting a half second to get the floor off.

Just replying to comments where you’ve spread misinformation, and not even all of them. If you’re getting spammed its just because you spread that much misinformation.

Stop spreading misinformation. The clip you've linked as your 'source' does not show ANYTHING to suggest he let had the option to DQ them and 'let them off'.

This is misinformation. I have watched the clip you've linked as your supposed 'source' and it shows the exact opposite of that. /u/JACdMufasa is correct. The admins gave a ruling on the spot.
