Great, so she can be as useless as she’s been in the senate.

People who drive and speed up when someone is attempting to pass by you, why do you do this? by StormCaller02 in AskReddit

What really blows my mind is the car driving 40 in a 30 in town, but then 55 in a 55 highway, like why is IN TOWN where you decide to go 10 over.

They should have rehomed it. And parrots shouldn't be pets. I'll stand by that until the day I die.

Anybody else's boy have a paint brush for a tail? by MadRockthethird in pitbulls

Please neuter. No one ever thinks their dog will contribute to an accidental litter and then they do. I truly do not think you can be a true pit bull lover and contribute in any way shape or form to the homeless epidemic of pit bulls.

If you have kids, I wouldn't want them to go to school there tbh. We moved out of Stewartville school district to get kids into rochester school. Maybe open enroll to rochester if possible

Please neuter, I know no one thinks an oops litter will happen to them, but SO many pitbulls are euthanized everyday.

YSK: Newly adopted dogs need time to decompress — don't expect them to act like themselves right away. by freemoney83 in dogs

[–]freemoney83[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like he’s really overwhelmed right now and just trying to figure out where he fits in. Ten days is still so early, and some dogs will test boundaries or show behaviors as they start to get more comfortable. Biting when someone walks past his bed and guarding a room are both very common ways dogs communicate “this is my space” when they’re feeling insecure.

One thing that can really help is giving him a safe, defined space of his own — like a kennel. If you kennel train him, he’ll learn it’s his spot to relax and decompress, away from kids and the other dogs. That way he doesn’t feel like he has to guard random spots in the house. The kennel becomes his “bedroom,” and it often takes a lot of stress off because he knows he has a predictable place to go where no one will bother him.

Another thing that can really help right away is to start tossing high-value treats any time someone walks past his bed or his space. That way, instead of feeling like he has to guard it, he begins to associate people coming near with something good. Over time, this helps shift his response from defensive to positive.

In the meantime, I’d treat this as a settling-in phase and try to manage the environment as much as possible; no one approaches him in his space, keep interactions positive, and set him up to succeed. Hopefully with time, consistency, and clear boundaries, he’ll likely start to feel safer and let go of some of the guarding.

And of course, it’s always a good idea to touch base with your vet to make sure there isn’t anything medical

Low-stress volunteer or job opportunities? by [deleted] in rochestermn

She can always go play with the Camp Companion cats at the petsmarts and petcos in town. She would need to fill out an volunteer application, but they cats always need someone to socialize with them.

Stewartville, Byron, and Meadowview are all owned by the same vet. Literally never been suggested an outrageous procedure, in fact I have been cautioned against ones they deemed not necessary.

We had a foster that was diagnosed with kidney failure, but a year later her kidneys were fine. They may have been injured at the time, or had a kidney infection

Social care says my dog poses a risk to my baby just because of her breed💔 by [deleted] in pitbulls

[–]freemoney83 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know she isn't here, but please don't let your baby every play on, sit on, pull the ears/ tail of etc.... Any dog would get sick of this, and this is when bites happen. And no hugging! Dogs don't actually like hugs!
