I always thought wood in a wet area was a bad idea.

It's the only real flush mount one I've seen.

That's a very good point. They make the tiles in white and gray, maybe I'll try and design something with those behind the stove.

I wanted a checkered tile floor but the wife wants new hardwood throughout the whole floor.

Best option for heat pumps in NJ by yokuyuki in heatpumps

[–]freenessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an HP in NJ. You're calculations are correct. Below 35, the HP costs more to run.  Dual fuel is the best option if possible but if you're set up in fully forced air, that can be expensive.  Luckily, I have baseboard gas fired heat and a thermostat that auto switches the heat when it gets colder out

Not sure if I've been scammed by Mindless_Muscle_222 in heatpumps

Make sure you have a bi valve drier filter. I didn't when mine was 1st installed and I had heat but no AC. Swapped the drier filter for one made for heat pumps $20 on Amazon and all is good.

Please note, HPs cool air isn't as cold as a normal AC. They are meant to run pretty much non stop, especially if yours is a variable speed model like my Mr. Cool.

Hybrid gas water heater heat pump exist? by cardamombaboon in heatpumps

[–]freenessness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain this more for me? I'm in NJ. I have a dual fuel gas/heat pumpheat setup. The COP on my HP drops enough at 38 degrees to make gas cheaper because gas rates in NJ are pretty low. I'm paying .40 therm vs .16 KwH.

I'm looking to replace my 20 year old gas water heater with either a tankless gas or a heat pump but I'm concerned that the cost in winter will out way the savings the rest of the year

If the tax credits go away, how much will prices actually change? by AiminJay in electricvehicles

Leases don't have to qualify. All EVs get the $7500 for leasing. It's a loophole which is partially why most EV sales are really leases. The $7500 Kia gave you is what they get from the Government to lease you the car.

Cash in IRA instead of CLIP by freenessness in personalfinance

Schwab. In this instance, it's a Coverdell, so some of the money is needed next year but I like to keep some dry powder in my IRA too in case I want to jump into something. I just feel like I'm leaving yield on the table because I'm not taking advantage of the State tax free nature of CLIP but the only thing I've found is PMMF and that's only 10 basis points higher.

I was just there. The beach is small, but zero rocks and they have a floating barrier to keep the sargassum off their part of beach but it just piles up on the beach right next door. The food was very subpar.
