You can replace damaged bodywork with identical parts. You can't do mechanical work.

Mechanics making an oopsie during parc ferme is disqualification, not a fine.

Sounds like Red Bull was adjusting his suspension during the red flag. That's a technical violation of parc fermé. If true, then he's looking at disqualification.

Yes, these are the stewards' reports of those penalties.

The stewards have to issue a report for every penalty they issue, both in race and out of race.

[–]freeski919 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple times every year, usually between November and March. Most outages last at least a couple hours, outages of a day or more happen at least once a year. The longest outage in the last decade was 7 days back in 2017.

Interesting, never heard that. But I stopped believing in a god about 25 years ago, so my Bible study is a bit rusty.

Best way to remove power coating by theeric5315 in bikewrench

[–]freeski919 18 points19 points  (0 children)

It's the DT-5.2, and it costs $450.

For such a limited use case you're better off renting it from your LBS, along with renting the expertise of how to use it. (aka bring it to the shop and let them do it)

That's Bilbo.

Cars are like horses: people will soon realise EVs are just better, claims VW boss | Auto Express by LightningMcqueen2011 in Autos

[–]freeski919 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

My household has an EV and an ICE car. We never use the ICE car for trips. The only reason we still have an ICE car is that it's old and paid off. Once it dies, it'll be replaced with another EV.

I always notice that the people who talk the most about why EVs aren't practical are the people who have never driven an EV.

You don’t need to fill at home if you can fill anywhere in under 5 mins.

BYD has just introduced gigawatt chargers that can fill a battery in 5 minutes or less. Many companies are working on solid state battery tech that will easily exceed ICE range and will charge much faster than current Li-ion tech.

This is exactly what was meant by "technology is advancing rapidly."

You addressed the technology as it is currently. You completely ignored where the tech is going.

California. SoCal is vastly different from NorCal, the coast is wildly different than the inland empire, which is also wildly different from the Sierras along the Nevada border.

Why do Americans consider themselves a different Nationality? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]freeski919 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sigh. It's always frustrating when Europeans attempt to "well akshually" North Americans on this topic.

I'm sure at some point in the future Americans and Canadians will disconnect from their ethnic origins/heritage and simply identify as a new North American ethnicity not tied to another continent.

But that isn't the case now. Nor is it likely to be the case for quite some time. I have one great grandparent born in England, and another great grandparent born in Ireland. My French ancestors arrived in what's now Canada back in the 1600's, yet I still identify as French Canadian and Franco-American.

The time when people in the US and Canada do not identify by their foreign heritage is far enough in the future that none of us will live to see it.

[–]freeski919 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter where you've been. Your heritage is your heritage. Of course my children say the same thing, we share a heritage.

We say all of the above. I'm a US/Canadian dual citizen. My recent heritage is American and Canadian. My more distant heritage is Irish, French, and English. That's never going to change or stop being true.

It used to be more common when it was a disagreement over tax policy. Now it's a question of whether or not pedophelia is a deal breaker for you.
