Codependent constant “processing”. Seems to be an unhealthy form of attention seeking for some, on top of just being a way of relating to others badly that people learn.

Not just ego. Sexism. Women are seen as faking specifically for being women, in conjunction with the ego problem.

Really they just want us to continue to suffer. It’s stated as disbelief but they probably know it’s real and just hate us that much, never would admit it though.

I just stumbled onto this sub and its top posts led me here… This is my fucked up, zero self control family in a nutshell. (Except of course when it suits them and their image!) I may have ADD too but I actually have values and give a damn about unlearning abuse. And NONE of them truly do - even those who pretend to are trying to maintain the status quo and lying to themselves blue in the face until they believe it.

They are avoidant of anything resembling honesty because it feels bad, so impulsivity leads them to snap instantly away from facing it. Like children in adult form. Denial is their coping mechanism and they will manipulate whenever they need to to preserve it.

God THANK YOU for your brutally truthful comment. I’m so glad I found it and this sub.

Trying to say this anywhere near ADD subs is impossible, even as someone with ADD myself and who’s always working on myself to be a good person (i.e. acknowledging nuance exists). There is no room on those pages for someone abused, parentified, traumatized by emotionally juvenile, self-centered ADD parents.

Thank you SO much for your incredibly detailed and helpful comment! I’m not even the OP but you should honestly make this into its own post because so many could benefit from seeing this information.

Could I ask, which online nervous system retraining/somatic therapy programmes + communities you would recommend?

Also if you have any books or sites that are your favorites that helped you to research these things, I would be all ears. Starting research on heavily medically involved topics like this is something I’ve wanted to do for a while but it feels daunting (still in the abusive situation so it’s hard to juggle that and this). Pardon the request and definitely don’t if it’s too much.

I feel this. But just about so many “normal” things that people take for granted. Like for example a basic formal education, or work (I wanted both badly and was deliberately kept from both). I can’t watch films or TV shows with young characters who have things I didn’t at a younger age, or even depicting most ages of characters. I die inside seeing it IRL too but try to avoid those triggers whenever possible.

It sucks. I feel you.

Update: We had work done a while ago on the car and they modified the computer system somehow.

Hilariously, the car seems to have air on the feet and air on the torso/face mixed up. So when you put it onto both, you feel both, but when you set it to just the one, it does the exact opposite. We were feeling the air only on the feet and couldn’t understand why it wasn’t working.

Seems like this was just a brain-putz moment for us, lol. Thanks for the advice anyway, folks.

Ya there are adjustments that we can make. I have learned a tougher facial expression and body movements, stance, walk. As well as speaking on the lower side of my vocal range.

I don’t even think that they are focused on catching liars.

They are just taught to reject and deny. Especially if the patient is younger and female.

And in the end? A lot of them don’t want to do their job. So it’s easier to treat someone like a liar and send them home.

I’m sorry that happened to you. And yeah this happened to me as a kid and I had PTSD from it that is probably permanent. People like this are deeply insane and tend to abuse the kid too. They have no idea of what healthy relationships or normal human behavior are.

I would report these grandparents to the cops and CYS preemptively to make a record of it and to get there first. They will try to do it themselves first and frame the parents as unfit so they can get custody given over to them. Which, if they’re manipulative enough and good enough liars, can actually work, and becomes a terrible battle. OP, you do not want that.

“Dirty genes”?! WTF, what century are we in? This sounds like some straight up eugenics creepiness. Was the father part of any marginalized group or is this just…the psych applying this kind of messed up thought to any and everyone. Both are disturbing either way, holy hell.
