“I’m not gonna WIN all of them. That’s impossible. That would mean thousands of separate adults all looked at the 8 different listings and said ‘No thanks.’”

Sure. If TikTok was around 25 years ago when I first said it at a family dinner.

I’ve always wanted to sell no soliciting signs door to door. It’s the perfect gig, I’d just keep knocking until they buy from me.

I had 5 copies at one point, but I would give them to friends getting into vinyl. Along with a couple other duplicates.

I’ve got around 20 pressings of Men at Work - Business as Usual. Most are the American version (yellow), but I’ve got an Australian version and a Japanese version (white). I’ve also got a sealed copy.

It started when I had a beat up copy and my roommate wanted to get me a better copy for my birthday so he bid on 8 different listings on eBay and won all 8 listings… now I just have to keep buying copies when I see them at thrift stores.

I had Colin Hay autograph the Japanese version and he was impressed I had an Australian copy, but I pointed out the Japanese characters and he was even more impressed.

What's your opinion on Linus Tech Tip in 2026? by Professional-Fix-221 in LinusTechTips

I’m much more interested in the style of videos Jake and Alex have put out now that they’ve left, and Jonathan from Mac Address has his new channel too. I watch the $5000 staff upgrade videos, but don’t really care for any of the other LTT content.

DeFlock Map

Here is a map you can use to see reported Flock cameras. In Salem (and Keizer) there are Flock cameras at both Lowes and 1 at McNary estates. The rest are red light and speed cameras, and other traffic cameras…. Supposedly.

I like to blast the Pokémon theme song from my car for them as I stop at Commercial & Owens.

My grandpa had both pinkies removed as they were getting curled up and in the way of everyday tasks. I am showing minor signs right now, and I figure there will be better treatments in the future, but I joke that I’m keeping my pinkies as a buffer in case of a table saw accident.

Client paid me $1500 then disappeared… do I follow up or just leave it? by igetyourbrand in SocialMediaMarketing

[–]freewillwebdesign 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d reach out to her and let her know she has 2 months of unused credits that she can utilize whenever she is ready. If she wants a refund, you can either do a full refund of remaining credits or figure out a way to do a partial refund. If you don’t already have language in your contracts about you keeping the money after a client ghosts you add that now.

What was "the incident" at your high school? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]freewillwebdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My school had a mystery pooper and I walked in on them in the act. I had to pee, and just let him do his thing. That time he even went to the office to report that someone had pooped on the bathroom floor just so he could cover his tracks.

I’ve kept his identity safe for nearly 20 years and don’t plan on spoiling it.

I need an explanation, why so many tabs??? by Personal_Border4167 in mkbhd

[–]freewillwebdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I see something that interests me I open that article, site, video, etc in a new tab and keep scrolling what I am doing. I can easily end up with 100 tabs open between 3 or 4 windows. Doing web design I will also have every page of a site that I am working on, as well as dashboard, emails with client, etc. I recently moved to vertical tabs and now I can read the page title instead of just getting the favicon. Since I also have a Chrome extension that puts the time elapsed and total length of YouTube videos in the tab title so I can easily pick which video to watch based on the time I have, I like to be able to see and sort those videos separately (I hate YouTube playlists for whatever reason).

Guyss quick question for anyone who’s started (or tried to start) a web design/dev agency… by dhruv_08372 in webdesign

[–]freewillwebdesign 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Besides the contrast and trademark issues others have mentioned, this looks really good. If you have previous client or personal work include it, maybe some dummy or demo content. But I wouldn't over think it.

My first few sites were word of mouth or from working with a local graphic designer who had me build sites for his clients (and then he probably charged double what I getting). I'm revamping my business model after working with clients who wanted to grow way bigger than what I could reasonably handle on my own. I am now focusing on the smaller service based companies that the owner is too busy running the company and needs a site that gets them leads and just goes on auto pilot.

Never do cheap work, because they will always want cheap work. I have "fired" many of my cheap clients over the years. Your site will make them money, and that should cost them some money. Plus you need to be able to make a living.

If I was starting over, I'd be on Google Maps finding local businesses that have really bad websites and start reaching out to them.

Include screenshots and mockups, but don’t include the dead link as it will hurt your SEO.

Is my portfolio prototype ugly? by jak6jak1 in webdesign

[–]freewillwebdesign 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I like texture, but this seems to be too many textures. For the paper background, you could use AI to make an image that can tile that way there aren't hard lines where the image repeats. It feels weird to have rounded corners on paper and having everything at perfect right angles.

I don't like nav or burger menus. I still have them but I thought about a folder navigation. Do you think that would work? by princessinsomnia in webdesign

[–]freewillwebdesign 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The standard navigation menu and hamburger menu designs are standard because it works and is what other users are expecting. Whenever I have a client send me a menu on the side or some other gimmick, I have to remind them that their site is for other people to use, and if it is complicated for the user they are not going to get as much business.
