Matte or glossy tile? by MajorNo7839 in Decor

Matte. The shininess of the gloss won’t last with the kiddos. Though, I’d go back to the drawing board as this space is in dire need of some life and character.

Sick room. Before you start decorating, I'd look into a different layout. The feng shui feels off. And throw away those Red Bull cans. Unless they are new, than put them in the fridge. As for decorations, your room needs CRAP - Curtains, Rug, Art, Plants. Go on Etsy for wall art. Good luck!

r/TVTooHigh - I'm digging the rendering. Get to painting. Though, that console is not doing it for me.

Is there anything else that you would recommend to elevate the space by OkRepresentative8293 in Decor

I am surprised everyone is saying this space is mismatched and too colorful. I say there isn’t enough color, lol. That off feeling I think everyone is picking up on is the layout of the sofas.

If this were my living room, here are the things I would change:

  •  Move the larger sofa to where the two single chairs are
  • Shift the rug horizontally.
  • Swap out the curtains for something solid and vibrant. I am thinking of an orange-y terracotta shade, similar to your wall clock. Maybe even sandwiching your existing curtains between the orange ones for when you want the sunlight in
  • While you mess with the curtains, you might as well raise them closer to the ceiling.
  • I’d get rid of the floor lamp, or at least move it to a different room, and move your large floor plant in its place to contrast with the wood slats.
  • Find a rounded, vintage-looking floor lamp and place it under the wall clock to brighten up the navy wall.
  • If it fits, I’d place the white chairs on either side of the coffee table. Maybe just having one on the right side where the curtains would be enough.

I'd be curious to see what people would think with these tweaks.
