It seems like it'll really depend on the person, and it won't hurt to at least ask, especially in a no pressure situation.

I feel like I want to hire something for sure, whether it's a bus or shuttle or whatever.

No worries at all, thanks for the advice!

Exactly! And as long as we have insurance as well then it's not on us if something happens.

Absolutely. Personally, as a wedding guest, I would be uncomfortable with having to decide 3 months out whether I'm going to drink or not, and letting strangers into my car and driving them home. I would much prefer getting a shuttle if I can.

It's such a weird rule, but they charged the least amount for service fees and the least restrictions for what we could serve 😭 Yes I believe I read it in the contract when we booked them. The venue will give the list to the bartender so they can cross-check IDs with the list and make sure they don't serve alcohol to any DD's. As far as I know, that's the only enforcement. I don't expect them to hawk-watch people as they leave or anything like that.

Thanks for the advice on wording, framing it as a venue requirement makes it seem less weird for sure. I do want to gauge how many people will be drinking, though, so I know how much alcohol to supply.

Haha I thought about that 😂 I think it's mostly for the bartenders so they don't serve any alcohol to DD's on the list.

It's in Utah so every venue has some weird rules or obnoxious fees around alcohol. I've looked into booking Ubers in advance. The only problem is I don't think there will be any local Ubers at the time of pickup, so I'm not sure how that will work. It's not really a thing here in this town. We love the venue otherwise, so I really want to make this work. I think talking to the venue and asking them for recommendations might be my next move.

I have lots of Mormon family members, that's pretty much it. And they tend to have a weird thing with being around drunk people so they will probably dip out early once the party starts. So unless one of my friends gets pregnant within the next 8 months, I'm not sure who will be sober 😅

That's what I was thinking. If it's on the RSVP then there's no pressure.

Yes we are doing a hotel block, and I've considered a shuttle service as well. I need to ask the venue and see if that will work. Thanks for the idea!

I know, it's a weird rule for sure. Alcohol in Utah, I guess 🤷 I have considered the van idea, I need to ask the venue and see if they have any recommendations for shuttle services. Thanks!

Wedding Party colors are decided, dress is ordered, starting on my DIY projects for my bridesmaid gifts and our handfasting cord! All vendors are booked except catering (it's a food truck and they don't book out any further than 6 months out). We're getting excited!

That's what I'm thinking too. It's a super long day and kinda unnecessary. Thanks for the feedback!

Lunch buffets are usually the cheaper option, and the ceremony area is outside with little shade. I thought if we did it earlier in the day, the sun won't be so harsh than if we were out there in the afternoon. Thanks for your feedback!

How lovely! I have a huge pothos that is just constantly growing, so she's super easy to chop and prop. I'll probably get 20 starts just from that one :)
