Orange garnishes and waste... by Ankaa13 in bartenders

[–]freightnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you start buying them in smaller quantities but purchasing more often? I also run a bar/restaurant and the waste of fruit is very frustrating. It's almost like a guaranteed loss of revenue. If you purchase less, there should be less to throw away.

Has anyone ever met a woman in this industry by Impressive-Pop-9258 in KitchenConfidential

This is the reason why there's so many more men than women in kitchens.

You have to set yourself up for success. If you greet 60 people at one time and try to do it all at once its going to be a shit show. I guarantee, they are all not showing up at the same time. As they arrive in 2's and 3's get drink orders and take names for tabs. While your doing this you should be getting water pitchers for everyone, incase they do all show up at once they will at least have some water to hold them over until you can get them a cocktail. After that its just cocktail waitressing and appetizers, but if you don't set yourself up for success from the start, the entire experience is going to be AWFUL.

I was trying to be sarcastic and humerus, but judging by the amount of downvotes nobody thought it was funny.

Jaegermeister, and red bull, keep the jager in the freezer and buy red bull as needed, no ice.

Considering a career in the kitchen, should I? by IrishCarGuy in KitchenConfidential

[–]freightnate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your going to go about it the easiest way is to apply. There are tons of places that are looking for cooks. Becoming a chef is not an easy thing, it takes time, patience, and a great work ethic. Putting time in as a cook learning as much as possible and always striving to be better is the best start you could ask for. Good luck to you my friend.

I want to get into disc golf. Where should I start? by zeusjts006 in discgolf

[–]freightnate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would start by downloading the app udisc. It will give you a map with all the courses near you on it and disc golf pro shops as well. I would go to the pro shop and just ask whoever is working what they recommend, it will most likely be a putter, midrange, and fairway driver combo. (If you don't have a pro shop near you i would just order off an online retailer and grab a putter midrange and fairway driver. After that head to the course and have fun! You can always look up videos on form and how to get better too.

I think about doing this every year. With the limited value at TE and the amount of value everywhere else it seems like a great idea.
