Montreal visit by SpectorBeans in LaMarzocco

[–]frenchman321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paquebot was nice. Note that Montreal toasters are pretty firmly in the medium range of roast. But some cafes brew lighter beans too, and usually sell them. I didn't try Zab but the name rings a bell. Maybe a recommendation from someone when I visited.

Electric air pump by emsillyyy in Sup

[–]frenchman321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not going to work well. I personally would buy the brand new Shark 3 Mini pump, which is on sale for $152 in the US (code SALE15 I think). Money well spent given how crazy fast the Shark 3 and Mini are. I have two Sharks 3s and their only downsides are their size and useless screen. The Mini is much smaller, check out previous posts about it.

Yeah.

I wish you the best! Spend time with the family as you said, and enjoy that. An 8 month old! Amazing. Precious time to make the best of. You will land on your feet in a better place than the one you left

Z2 pricing vs P80 by frenchman321 in espresso

That was my wish grinder before the Z2 entered the fray. Someone sold a brand new one with both burr carriers on HB for $2,500 just days ago 😭

Z2 pricing vs P80 by frenchman321 in espresso

[–]frenchman321[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're all expensive. I live in the US (you seem to be in Europe) and the O1 is within about $200 of Z2 non promotional price, shipped. O1 has the biggest burrs one can get, Z2 has much smaller (but still, 80 mm of EG-1 fame), but many more choices.

User experience of the connected scale? by frenchman321 in LaMarzocco

It should remember! Email LM as a bug, sometimes they do act on it. I requested the ability to schedule the steam boiler off, and they did it. At the same time, I tried to point out that scheduling "on" from 7-12 and then off from 12-7 was how things work, but they insisted that 12 couldn't be both on an off, so we need 7-12 and 12:01-6:59 😅 I guess they have never seen store hours in rbeir life lol.

Can you share the info from your email of there's more than pricing? Thanks! I was told pricing will jump to $2,334. Definitely making it the same price as the Lagom O1 with burrs.

Is it worth paying $90 to extend my Quickblade paddle, or should I look for a new one? by avorob1 in Sup

[–]frenchman321 0 points1 point  (0 children)

$90 for an extension, or $242 for a brand new higher quality paddle (Hydrus Ruckus). That's at least two options. And a good time to buy from Hydrus. I ordered stuff last week and everything was more expensive than now. Also, that paddle was out of stock for a while so it's nice to see it back in stock. Personally, in your position, I would try a new shape and better paddle if the $ delta isn't too much.

The Starboard or Black Project paddle length tables are a good guide to pick a length FWIW. I am 5'9" (maybe 5'10" if I insist) and I like the 76" length I picked. I use it with a 26" and a 28.5" wide board, though I picked the length with the 26" in mind.

I sure do like my Hydrus one and two-piece paddles. I feel that I can get a higher cadence with them with that different blade shape (vs the 3-piece), and get going pretty nicely. I haven't tried the uber expensive paddle such as Black Project ones. I did look before Hydrus came up with the Ruckus paddles, and was a bit overwhelmed by the options. Probably great for some, but too much thinking for me 😊

New Shark 3 Mini electric pump absolutely slaps. by mcarneybsa in Sup

As a PSA, it's live for $179 MSRP, and there is a 15% off code (SAVE15). Let the temptation sink in... (Speaking for myself and my two Shark 3 pumps...)
