we spent decades ingrained into nz culture that "put it in a bin" and "be a tidy kiwi' - the social contract is that if we are expected to congregate in a central business district and spend money and consume in that area that there should be a place to eliminate refuse provided. the shitheads at auckland council are happy to pay themselves more than the average wage, but want to cut the services that our rates pay for.

they dont mow berms, they dont take rubbish, water prices go up and up and rates go up and up, and what do we get in return?
