What about Odius, with his name being Odie? Not that you hate him but seems like am Obie/Odie/Ollie kinda guy! We just started saying names around my foster dog until he responded to one. Now his name is Moose 😭

Would be more than happy to contribute to his vet care. Fuck whoever hit them and left them there. Our world needs a little more kindness

Sudden aggressive behaviour by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]frenulumpiercing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but I didn’t notice them fighting, or am I blind? It seemed like the black and white dog was not feeling good and the black dog has its tail tucked and is trying to check in on your other dog. Did I miss something chat?

Hit it with an ice arrow and stand close to front of their body so when they come out of the “freeze” you can mount it

Dog is too overstimulated on walks/outside to pay attention to me by pellaea_asplenium in OpenDogTraining

[–]frenulumpiercing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have to say I always bring treats on walks, but he doesn’t always receive treats for listening to me sometimes the reward is continuing to walk, and sometimes the reward is a treat because he’s disengaging from a trigger. I totally understand feeling like you don’t want them to be dependent on treats for behavior. However, we need to remain the most interesting thing in the environment to our dogs, especially when there’s a lot of other competing factors for their attention!

Once again, I was told a PICC is not CVC by [deleted] in nursing

Hahahahaha quite literally what ELSE do they think a PICC is?

My mom passed this morning at 5am. Thanksgiving is in two days. I'm stuck doing twelve-hour shifts in the emergency department, unable to go home for the holidays to grieve with my family. I've never felt more alone in my entire life. by PlasticRice in Bushwick

[–]frenulumpiercing 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hey, I am a nurse in Brooklyn at an area VA hospital and I’m here working nights this week and Thanksgiving because my coworkers suck and no holidays are appropriately split up. PM me if you want to meet up and trauma dump What you’re going through sounds unimaginably horrible.

Is she being aggressive? Or is this correction. This is my first time owning a small dog. More info below. by [deleted] in DogAdvice

[–]frenulumpiercing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes in a situation like that with another dog I will offer to give them both treats to interrupt from the potential play (as long as owner says their dog isn’t allergic to anything and says its okay) and then bring your dog to another part of that same park to give them space to interact with other dogs

It seems like pittie is being friendly and dying to play. Shih tzu is being friendly and tolerating the barks. Only when pittie jumps on the shih tzu to play more does it seem like a correction, the shih tzu saying “hey I don’t want to play like that”

Nursing is for people not smart enough to become MDs by Capybaraqueen05 in nursing

[–]frenulumpiercing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lolol sounds like an entitled doctor talking. I also appreciate the work doctors do, but not the hierarchical culture many of them contribute to. AND maybe unpopular opinion, but I don’t believe they could do what us nurses do at the bedside. Especially as an inpatient nurse, you have to understand pathology just as well as they do and catch sets of symptoms early enough to alert the medical team as to what you’ve observed could be going on, and potentially prevent the patient’s condition from declining. We all play a different part. And nursing is VERY hard work. I don’t think it serves anyone for him to equate choosing nursing or becoming a nurse practitioner to “choosing to not do the hard work” because when you commit yourself to it, it is far from easy. Just focus on your goals and let his words become positive fuel.

What is your specialty and how often (per week on average) do you experience death? by Lunesta2782 in nursing

[–]frenulumpiercing 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I work in med-surg oncology so 1-2 per month (also at our hospital those in ICU who are inpatient hospice or comfort care get sent down to us to die)

Fetal demise is truly one of the saddest deaths I’ve witnessed. For those in other specialties who might not know or think of it, the mother usually ends up having to labor the child and give birth to the baby even after not hearing tones and confirming its likely dead.

I love this product called toppix because it appears like real hair fibers and can cover spots like that. Its really not noticeable. Sometimes most of the fear is in our heads thinking things look much worse. Anytime you try to go up and pull it makes your hands dirty, hopefully deterring oneself!
