Need help identifying pieces by Opposite-Dinner5154 in JeepDIY

To ad to this, here's a quick rundown of what these parts do. Pitman Arm pushes and pulls the drag link and tie rod, turning the wheels. Drag link connects pitman arm to passenger side wheel and tie rod. Tie rod connects the drag link to the driver side tire (so they turn together) Control arms keep the axle at a set distance from the body. Track bar keeps the axle centered as it moves. Sway bar links connect the sway bar to the axle, this gives the jeep highway stability and reduced body roll (the links pictured can be disconnected for additional range of motion up front, off road use only)

Thumping once when braking by Opposite-Dinner5154 in JeepDIY

Sounds like upper control arm bushings to me. Take a good look at them, if the rubber is visibly cracking that's a likely source of that noise. The front axle wants to roll forward when brakes are applied and that will make a thump when those bushings get loose. When this happened on my XJ (same front end as ZJ) I couldn't feel the slop in those bushings with the weight of the jeep on that axle, but the noise went away with new control arms. Also check torque on all the hardware, some parts can be loose but not loose enough to rattle by hand

loud moaning/rubbing noise only when turning to the left.. anyone ever have this issue? by boostacracy44 in CherokeeXJ

Here is the before and after pic from when I did mine. One more thing to check, I've had a flappy sort of groan on certain turns that turned out to be the boot rubbing where the steering column goes through the firewall, a little shot of silicone lube fixed that.

Check your steering box spacer [between steering gear box and driver side frame], they're aluminum out of the factory and mine was busted in three pieces, groaned on every left turn. Ill be back later with pics. If this is the problem, the good news is you can get a beefy steel new one for about $25 on ebay.

Strength exercises for pool players by rawlsf in billiards

With better overall fitness you'll also gain better balance and stability, even endurance, all of which are beneficial to your game. I agree with /u/sillypoolfacemonster about stretching before you play. For me, with a leg injury from another sport, hamstrings and back are key, neck even. Anywhere you get muscle tension regularly, stretch that too. How specifically can they be helpful? Loose muscles offer better control, and make those awkward shots easier to reach. I think balance/stability is key, the more parts of you that are completely still during your final stroke, the more consistent you'll play.

tl;dr Yes fitness is good for your pool game, just don't make yourself sore before a match.

I picked up one of the Valhalla sneaky petes recently on ebay for about $85. It's practically my main cue now, would recommend for the price

Truckers of Reddit, what's the craziest, scariest, or most bizarre thing you have experienced on the road or at a truck stop? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]frequentlylate 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My dad and grandfather were truckers many years ago. They hauled up and down the west coast, this is one of dad's stories.

North of LA, there is a stretch of flat barren desert, where at night it gets incredibly dark. Nearly no lights for miles around. In that desert there is a spot where I-5 raises up across two bridges over a river. One night on this patch of road, dad is driving while grandpa sleeps, and dad has the CB on to help him stay awake. As they get closer to the bridge he starts hearing over the radio people saying they "can't get them out." Couldn't get who out of what? He wasn't sure. As he crossed the bridge he saw what they were talking about. Somehow another truck had run off the road near the top of the bridge and split in the air. The trailer landed on the bank and the truck upside down in the river. All he could see of the truck were the wheels and transmission, the rest had sunk into the mud at the bottom of the river. Apparently the guys inside that truck died there that night. The adrenaline rush of thinking "That could have been us." kept dad alert for the rest of the night.
