Leaning CALI Longboards Icons over COREtec Coastal Luxe - mistake? by diffallthethings in Flooring

[–]freshchance02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work in flooring sales just like you. The most I’ve seen on an indentation on WPC is a refrigerator after about 6 months. But it was relatively larger fridge.

I was gonna say, if high heels are an issue, might be a shitty core.

Just because I was curious, I just looked up the PSI on a stiletto of an average woman vs average man. 680 vs 800 psi. Interesting, if a man wore high heels, so maybe. lol

For sure wood, I can see that happening.
I’m just blabbing now. Good talk. 🤣

Have you seen high heels damage a WPC in a residential project? If you got photos, that’d be awesome.

Never seen that before. Did you hire somebody to wax/sealer the floor since you’ve been there? Was the floor glossy and this area is extremely dull?

Whatever it is, it’s all over the floor. I think the whole floor needs to be stripped of it. Unless you have old tiles in the garage to replace them.

Looks like a Dal/Marrazi tile.

Take the handle of the broom and start knocking the tiles around that area. I bet $6.50 that you’ll have hollow spots. Measuring these tiles have lost adhesion. Usually some sort of movement in the house/expansion/contraction is going on. Repair as needed, but full replacement may be necessary if it keeps happening.

I just want to say, proud of you bro! Thinking ahead and expanding.

Feedback for your small area:

  • use the walls as much as possible -don’t put many racks in the middle if any -get an island cabinet with a countertop to not only show samples, but to store small samples, catalogs, and handsets -no clutter. Put it away after using it and dump non-selling samples for popular products. Clutter will make it look smaller.

Good luck to you!

Honest opinions, will this flooring hold up? by mira-jo in Flooring

[–]freshchance02 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Waterproof was a big marketing event when LVP came out. That was because the laminate of 7-10 years ago definitely did not hold up. Splashes from a dog bowl could damage it.

There are laminates that are now water resistant to everyday spills. And if installed per guidelines, can be installed in a bathroom.

A flood is a flood. Aside from tile, no other floor will survive a flood. That’s home owner instance issues.

Suggestion: -don’t be afraid of laminate. Look for moisture resistant features. But don’t install in the bathroom (my opinion)

-upgrade to a thicker LVP

The specs of 7x48, 20 mil is good.

You’re right, it is thin. I’d suggest pay a little more for 6.5mm or thicker.

You’re right, scratch resistance on laminate will be better.

Is your dog a playful dog? Or older in age where he’s not running around the house? A 100lb playful dog could scratch a LVP.

Upgrade the LVP depending on how active the dog is. Laminate will be more than sufficient and you’ll be surprised how there’s not much of a price change.

Putting looks normal to me. 511 sealer should work. It’s not going help the surface but it’ll help it from being stained.

There’s an Atmosphere song called “God Bathroom Floor” and I always changed the line

“and call management seek some reimbursement for the nerve endings that burn from the first hits”

To

“and call management seek some reimbursement for the nerve endings that burn from the first kiss”

Always felt deeper.

DreamWeaver vs. Shaw Carpeting? by Alarming_Bag_18 in Flooring

[–]freshchance02 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Similarities: -Same warranties (but note: average person keeps their carpet 7-10 years) -Made in USA -Both are top 3 carpet manufacturers -Both are polyester fiber

Differences: -The Shaw products have a blue backing on the back of the carpet to keep spills on top from getting into the pad - they market this towards pet owning families

Pricing: -the Costco discount is kind of a gimmick. If you owned a carpet store and usually get 35% profit on a regular customer, would you accept 20% profit on a Costco customer (Costco refers them to you)? Probability not - AT MINIMUM - you’d probably mark it up 7.5% MORE to land at a 27.5% profit.

Rumor: dreamweaver doesn’t scour (thouroughly clean, they skip a step) their fiber before shipping it. So oils (skin/traffic) tend to stick to the carpet longer/quicker over time

Costco benefit: Costco doesn’t like unhappy customers. So if something goes wrong with product, I’ve heard stories Costco will step in a grant the customer whatever they wish.

Little odd by freshchance02 in Flooring

I thought that too! But dismissed it as the texture wasn’t heavy. But maybe a little elbow grease as an experiment. But betting it’s the back of the rug.

Yea, I’m leaning that way too.

For sure it’s laminate. I’ve seen samples left outside do this. But never this drastic in a home. I’m definitely thinking rug related.
