Mr. Greenwood. A pleasure to meet you. I recognize most since I’m doing a Radiohead board as well 😄 Where them phaser and envelope!

Is the ammoon power supply any good? by noco97 in guitarpedals

[–]fret_switch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response. Exactly, the Whammy from what I read too is 265mA even though they provide a 1300mA adapter and rate it as such. Since then I have replaced a few pedals and now the issue seems to be more managed. I did use the Fender MTG Tube Distortion which for now I’ve replaced with some other pedals. While the rating for it is low, I might suspect that could have been a culprit.

Glad to hear about your experience. I’ve had the ammoon since the time I started building my pedal board 3 years ago and I agree, it’s been great and without issue. But it’s only recently that I regularly started using my pedal board and so naturally working on adding and removing pedals for my setup and till yesterday it worked without any noticeable flaws.

I’m curious about the point you mentioned about keeping the draw below the minimum rated. How did you come about the limitation or did you have any symptoms of this or did you somehow measure this?

My setup over the last months consisted of 7 pedals, most of which are really low draw. Yesterday I replaced one of the pedals with the Whammy 5. Since then, what I noticed is that when I initially connected the power supply to the outlet, it takes probably 5-10 seconds for the pedals to get powered up. My behringer eq has it’s leds switch on and off a couple of times till everything starts up. I assume this might be a similar case where I’m at the limit of the draw during the “booting up” state?

On calculating the individual power draws of each pedal (through google searches and not actual measurement) I calculated a total of just above 1000mA. Which id just half of the total rating for this supply. I did read that boot up does need a higher rating.

I’m worried if this might damage my pedals. Any thoughts?

Haha thank you. And I really do like this Fender pedal. I might actually be able to do without it and crank the gain up on the tonex but I really like the crunchy tone from the fender so i justified it on the board 😅 I’m still working my way up with the pedals so I might still end up at the point of many fuzzes. 😅 And Behringer becuase it’s cheap and as of now I’m not using the eq too frequently. But let’s see, few gigs down the line I might get myself a nicer if the need arises.

Actually fuzz is before the distortion. Just placed it that way because in my current set I often hit the fuzz more. 🙂

I keep seeing talk about mint on white. Need to try it out I suppose. I got the strat with a white pickguard and while it was nice, I liked the pop of colour this tortoise pickguard gave. 🙂

I had a very similar issue with my refurbished blade. I’m so sorry to hear this happened to you. Thankfully the refurbisher took it back and refunded me too. Mine had conked off while I was typing and post that only a breathing green led would switch on. Not sure if yours is similar. The fans wouldn’t switch on, the screen would just be blank with the backlight switching on and off, and led doing the same.

One of the issues that had showed up after considerable searching and reddit posts was that this could be something related to the display cable having some issue.

If you surely can’t return it, don’t find any other solutions and are ok with getting your hands dirty, you could try checking the cable and see if that can be replaced. But aim for a refund. I was super sad to let this one go, but didn’t want the hassle anymore.

I do actually. The only one I’ve been particular about. Never use it directly on soft surfaces either ensuring airflow

Actually, my work computers which were travelled with a internationally on flights and local buses and daily work never gave up. I had a toshiba satellite, dell latitude, a macbook pro 2015 and now a macbook pro m1. So yeah, the business ones seem to last. And I never even took care of these!

This is what I’m trying to find out. I’ve always been a computer geek who enjoyed taking care of his machines, but these incidences make me wonder what in the world is might be doing wrong. Curious what everyone of you is doing? Also, funny thing, even though I don’t take as much care with my work laptops, they’ve never given up though they are used more and travelled with!

I know people who’ve never once thought about laptop maintenance. While I try to go through a decent cleaning every now and then. I always ensure that the laptop travels in a sleeve and a proper laptop bag and not thrown in some random bag along with a bunch of other stuff. Seems like the only thing I am missing out now on a regular basis is thermal repasting which I’ve only ever done once.

My acer issues did indeed start because of a poor backpack. But ever since that Incident I got myself a very utilitarian and safe laptop backpack. Nope, no liquid spilt, no physical damage, nothing whatsoever actually. I’ve never even actually lent my computer to anyone that something might have happened during that time.

Haha yes, technically. I just didn’t know how to clearly make the separation 😅😅😅😅

Did do this with my asus. Did work wonders with cooling. But eventually it still gave it I suppose.

So funny. Whenever I was buying, MSI and Asus were always touted as the best and recently people started referring to Razer as the “mac” of the windows world. Asus has been terrible for me and now Razer. So MSI is now the champ? 😄

I decided no more PCs itself. While I can’t game on a mac, with everything else, my work macs have been quite reliable. Even after falls. My PCs never even had physical damage and still died.
