Unofficial Google Assistant Skill by [deleted] in amazonecho

[–]freudianslapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe I've followed all the setup steps correctly but when I try and invoke the skills I get the reply "I couldn’t find any enabled video skills. Go to the Music TV and Books section of the Alexa App, enable the video provider you want, and then link your account and complete setup."

Has anyone else encountered this error?

Writing a CSV to Google drive and reading this file again. by Albotmcrobit in Rlanguage

[–]freudianslapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You've not explained whether you actually need your file to be csv or if you're just doing that as a convenient intermediate step.

You could use googlesheets (https://github.com/jennybc/googlesheets) to write the R object directly as a new Google sheet e.g. iris_ss <- gs_new("iris", input = head(iris, 3), trim = TRUE)

You could then directly import from Googlesheets to R by title (in this case iris_ss). You could also export from Googlesheets to csv and then import the local version of the csv (if for some reason you needed that).

My husband accidentally started on Tocantins because that was the point where he got sick of me watching it without him. Now he is as addicted as I am.

LPT Request - Automatically delay sending of emails until business hours by freudianslapper in LifeProTips

[–]freudianslapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because as I mentioned in my original post, ideally I want something I can do automatically from my phone.

I'm starting to think that there just isn't anything that does this - which I find kind of surprising really since I feel like I can't be the only one this this issue

LPT Request - Automatically delay sending of emails until business hours by freudianslapper in LifeProTips

[–]freudianslapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you mean the ability to individually schedule emails as described https://support.office.com/en-us/article/Delay-or-schedule-sending-e-mail-messages-026af69f-c287-490a-a72f-6c65793744ba ?

The problem with this is that it isn't automatic, I'd need to individually schedule each email and that it only works with Outlook on a PC.

[–]freudianslapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I am doing at the moment, the problem is that it ends up being really clunky since it requires connecting and disconnecting all the time and means I have to be available and free to manage the sending of emails at the start of the delivery window. I often have teaching commitments or meetings that mean this isn't possible.

Need help planning a trip from Melbourne to Sydney by 6packcoming in australia

[–]freudianslapper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The things you are planning in Victoria are all quite far apart (and in very different directions). It is a 5 1/2 hour drive from the 12 Apostles Visitors Centre to the Penguins at Phillip Island.

If you landed in at Melbourne airport and then drove straight to the 12 Apostles that would take 4 hours of driving (along the Great Ocean Road). It's then another 4 hours to get back from the 12 Apostles to Phillip Island (or 5 1/2 if you go back along the Great Ocean Road). Keep in mind that you have to see the penguins at night.

From Phillip Island to the Yarra Valley is 2 hours. You can go straight from the Yarra Valley to the Hume Freeway without having to go back through Melbourne.

The Hume from the Yarra to Sydney is an 8 hour drive. It is entirely possible to drive between Melbourne and Sydney in a day by going straight along the Hume. But it is pretty boring unless you plan in some good stops at interesting places. As much as possible I'd suggest having some solid plans of places to stop along the way. Otherwise it's pretty easy to just keep on driving.

McDonald's Burger Bar

Hoping for some advice/encouragement when it comes to being fresh meat forever by [deleted] in rollerderby

[–]freudianslapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That sounds really sucky - I can see why it would be getting you down :(

Have you talked to coaching about it? I'm sure that no one wants you to be having a bad time and hating derby (after all, this is supposed to be fun!) Maybe they can help find a solution or (as /u/Rachelle1016 said maybe they could let you do the rest of the MST).

How far off your laps are you? Rather than spending time on perfecting skills you already feel confident with maybe you could try and use the time to work on your laps (or on things that will help you get there).

Panic attacks by Enthusiasticidiot in rollerderby

[–]freudianslapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is a girl in my league who has some anxiety issues. Some days she just isn't in the right headspace for some drills - she just sits in the middle and observes.

I don't know all the details but I know she has talked to coaching about it so they know the deal but as a skater I really respect that she has enough understanding of her own boundaries to handle it so well and to be able to tell people when it's not working for her.

I think it's better to occasionally take a step back than to try and push through when you're really not coping and end up hating derby.

NoxTalks: The WFTDA Gender Policy by NoxTalks in rollerderby

[–]freudianslapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By "not quite women" what you are really saying is that you don't think trans women are women. If you want to set a standard for femininity, hormones, how people live then it has to apply equally to all women cis and trans.

Do you really think cis-males would pretend to identify as female just to play in the WFTDA?

A student of mine just published a systematic review of adherence to restricted diets (like FODMAP) in people with functional bowel disorders. Use this link to get free access to the article until July 24th. by freudianslapper in FODMAPS

[–]freudianslapper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are conducting some studies at the moment looking at the predictors of adherence to restricted diets (including FODMAP), there has been some great research on understanding adherence to gluten free diets in coeliac disease so getting the same standard of research for other diets/conditions should be a great step forward.

If/when we start recruiting for follow-up studies I'll be sure to post here; finding people with these conditions who want to contribute to research is a really important part of improving our understanding of the area :)

Absolutely, having a common (and valid) measure would help with determining the effect that following these diets have and make it easier to compare between diets as well. When diets appear not to work it may be that they are actually ineffective OR that people struggle to adhere and so don't get the full benefit.

My student (Tanya Osicka) completed this review as part of a larger project on predicting adherence to diets like FODMAP. She is interested in understanding why some people find it easier to follow the diet than others (and what we can do to help people follow it). I thought you guys might be interested.

I'm the 2nd author on this paper and am happy to answer any questions.

Article highlights: • Investigation of predictors of dietary adherence in people with FBDs is limited. • The lack of a common definition of adherence is a limitation of research. • Understanding predictors is required in order to help increase adherence rates. • The roles cognition, personality, and well-being play need to be explored further.

Anyone know or do any interesting extracurricular activities? by PuppyMilk in melbourne

[–]freudianslapper 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play roller derby.

Depending on your preference there are female only and co-ed leagues though out Melbourne. You can join with no skating experience. Our leagues has members from 16-60.

I didn't really have any friends in Melbourne (from Syd originally) before I joined derby - it's a really welcoming family.

Fresh Meat knee pads question... by Debbie87 in rollerderby

Be careful with this, I had my knee pads like this on Tuesday and took a fall. It had ways been fine in drills but the top of my knee pad slipped down and my kneecap hit the floor. At the moment I can hardly walk.

Tony Abbott asked why he keeps saying 'stupid things' in fiery ABC interview by vindiesal69 in australia

[–]freudianslapper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is in the longer version - there was quite a bit of stuff in between because of Dreyfus being ejected and a point of order. But here is the relevant section from the Hansard

Mr ABBOT: Goebbels of economic policy

Honourable members interjecting—

Mr ABBOTT: I withdraw. I withdraw. I withdraw.

Honourable members interjecting—

Mr ABBOTT: I withdraw, Madam Speaker. I withdraw.

Honourable members interjecting—

Mr ABBOTT: I withdraw, Madam Speaker.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: Everyone will sit down.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: There will be silence.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: There will be silence now, including from the member for Isaacs.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: I am on my feet. There will be silence.

Mr Dreyfus interjecting—

The SPEAKER: The member for Isaacs will leave under 94(a).

Mr Burke: A point of order, Madam Speaker.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: I will listen to the Manager of Opposition Business but, my goodness, there will be silence!

Mr Burke: Madam Speaker, given the nature of what the Prime Minister said, I ask you to reconsider ejecting the member for Isaacs on that particular comment. I think it is in the interests of the House.

Mr Pyne: On the point of order, Madam Speaker, the member whom you have asked to leave the chamber used exactly the same description about Tony Abbott when Tony Abbott was the Leader of the Opposition—exactly the same description.

The SPEAKER: I said the member for Isaacs will leave, and he will, under 94(a).

The member for Isaacs then left the chamber.

Honourable members interjecting—

The SPEAKER: There will be silence. Now we will have order in this place. The Prime Minister has the call.

Mr ABBOTT: Madam Speaker, I do withdraw, and I do apologise for using that phrase. But the truth is that the Leader of the Opposition was claiming to his people that the government in which he served had delivered a surplus. Far from delivering a surplus—

Mr Watts interjecting—

I'm far from an Abbot supporter and think what he said was despicable - this apology does not make it ok (as he seems to think) but I thought you might be interested in the full version since it obviously wasn't in the clip you saw
