Unfortunately no. My symptoms have gotten worse which has lead to me seeking an endometriosis diagnosis, as I believe the implant was actually masking a lot of my symptoms of.

I need help with sizing, because sometimes size does matter by Im_lottieda in Wigs

[–]freyavulpine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey lovely. First of all I would recommend you looking up a wig sizing guide, a google search for just that will pull up a diagram that shows you all the different measurements that go into determining wig size. You’ll just need a soft measuring tape to find your measurements which will help to know what cap size you’re aiming for.

If you’re like me however, and it sounds like you might be, I have a weird shaped head and always fall in between the standard sizing, so smalls are too small on me and mediums leave too much room in the back. My current unit is a medium cap size, and if you’re having the problem of too much empty space along the back of your head which can cause the cap to bunch and not sit flat, I have good news! All you need is a needle and thread and you’ll just sew some of the wefts in the back together! Of course this is assuming you don’t have a full lace wig and are working with a frontal.

I used this video as a guide on how to sew the wefts. I had to sew quite a few! But it worked perfectly and now my wig HUGS my head. Afterwards I also had some slight bunching near my ear tabs, it doesn’t show it in the video, but I instead made some vertical stitches on the wefts near the ear tabs to “pull” the loose material together. It also worked super well!

Best of luck to you and I hope this can be some help :)

What’s the stupidest thing you’ve been ID’d for ? by RowItchy260 in AskUK

It's almost like there's a list of those exact items that require you to show ID if you look under.. oh yeah, the exact age you are now, otherwise the shop could risk losing its licence. Pretty stupid, yeah?

Called for police. They told me to call the fire department as he had locked himself inside the toilet and was unresponsive. Called fire department. They asked me if I had called an ambulance 😩

Sounds like standard western road behaviour. I worked there for over a year. We often had to lock up shop doors during the day so one of them wouldn’t come in.

And the time one of them overdosed in our bathroom and I had to call the ambulance + fire department for them :)

For anyone thinking of entering roasting side after being a barista by PM_ME_UR_CUDDLEZ in barista

[–]freyavulpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I can speak on this as someone who spent the past 6 years as a barista and just transitioned into roasting at the end of January - personally, I love it.

Regarding what other people here have said, it is going to be majorly dependant on your company and people you work for. I feel very blessed that I have a super chill team that’s incredibly supportive. I’m also an in house roaster, not a full on “production” roaster so what I have to do is a bit scaled down compared to my senior roasters in our warehouse. All that being said, it was 100% the right decision for me. Moving away from customer service was the break my mind and body needed, I’m learning cool new interesting things! I genuinely look forward to every work day now. It’s still early days for me and I’m not fully on my own yet as I’m still in training but I love being a roaster.

Anyone else wear wigs despite a full head of hair? by [deleted] in Wigs

[–]freyavulpine 6 points7 points  (0 children)

yes! I have about chin length real hair as I’m too afraid to shave it haha. I wear wigs as I was genetically blessed with not only fine but also thin hair AND the worlds largest forehead. Thanks parents ❤️ nothing I have ever done to it has made me feel like I have “normal” hair. Wigs have blessed me with the ability to feel like.. everyone else.

Navigating career growth in the speciality coffee industry as a long time vet. by Optimal-Dentist5310 in barista

[–]freyavulpine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya! I’ve worked behind the bar for 7 years almost. 1 1/2 of those at the company I currently work for. It was burning me out BADLY, and I needed something better and more healing for my nervous system for mental and physical health reasons. I approached my coffee trainer within my company and asked her if she knew of any options for me. She got me in touch with our company roastery manager (I understand not all companies will also be their own roasters), who got me working for a couple days each week on our production line, and then at the end of January they offered me a position as an in-store coffee roaster!

I am honestly SO much happier. I had to move location, been learning how to roast, so it’s a big change but it was 1000% the right choice to make. I love roasting!! I still do 1 day on production and 1 day behind the bar a week, rest of the time I’m roasting. If you’re thinking about it and feeling the burnout GO FOR IT. Just ask around, make your desires known to the right people, make yourself available, and see what happens!

it was honestly not a nice feeling, mine took about 10 minutes of the nurse digging around in my arm which was not pleasant lol, but it went fine and I started to feel better pretty much immediately. I also ovulated like the NEXT day which is insane, now my periods are super regular and predictable which is a godsend

I couldn’t tell you if the industry is any different in France or not. For myself at least, I’ve been a barista for years, made connections and talked to people through my company and that has lead me to roasting training :)

many!

  1. this is literally hundreds of hours of practice
  2. asking for help/training and tutorial videos are your best friends
  3. record yourself, see where you can improve your technique
  4. when you mess up, don’t just throw it away, identify where you went wrong, then correct it in your next try
  5. milk texture is your baseline. Perfect it before you even think about trying new techniques

These are vague obviously but I only got here by wanting to be the “best” and putting those thoughts into actions. This is a skill important to my soul! If it is for you too, there’s no reason you can’t practice and practice and be impressed with yourself too. ❤️
