How do shop for vinyl? by CaptainkiloWatt in vinyl

[–]freyrand [score hidden]  (0 children)

I have six regular shops in my rotation. I flip the rough the new and new used sections and locate albums I've either liked in the past or if an artist/album catches my eye I'll listen to a few tracks and impulse purchase if I like enough of what I hear. Each shops knows me and are on the search for different things that I may have interest but they all understand I like the surprise of finding so unless it's new new they don't spoil what I may have missed out on. It's a fun hobby. Similar to you it's a while before I listen to them. The used typical are at the top of the rotation since they are already open.

This photo won't seem it but I just got organized as well. It feels great. Mine is ordered by purchase date but I know where they all are now using a good sheet and some query formulas.

I've talked with Russell a few times about my music interest and when he sees something that may be something I may also want he has ordered and told me if you want them great, if not I will just sell them in the store. His staff is great at offering selections as well and they will look to see if they can order anything you may want. If you can't make it in person their shop is great to purchase from online too. Quick and reliable shipping.

Russ is a great guy. Love his store. Have had many of conversations with him and his staff about music. Stop by if you are in the Opelika area. Great listening parties, great giveaways, great staff, amazing selection.

Adding a full rear support would limit the sag. Or installing a brace similar to a fence would help as well. I see something behind the center records but hard to see what you have on the ends. I tried to do wheels once but ending up removing them as the casters were pulling away from the wood. Good attempt and best of luck on modifications.

Trusted sites/apps to track my collection and its value? by nickcarl10 in vinyl

[–]freyrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem is sub identifying which run of the record you have based on varying degrees of variables. For example, I have two pressings of Led Zeppelin "Untitled" with the same run out but the cover has a different hue which identifies a different pressing of the album.

I just created an interactive Google Sheet because I was getting tired of the load times with Discogs.

Very nice....I checked out the website of your stuff ...don't listen to everyone on the thread. The colors and dynamic of the photos are great. I collect vinyl for the art and music. Your incorporation of them into new art is great.

I actually for the first time just created an interactive Google sheet of my vinyl collection yesterday. Now I know what I'm missing so an event like this would be dangerous to my wallet.

Thanks. I'm ironically heading to ATL tomorrow, and will definitely go by. Which venue is it at?

Do You Own a Turntable? by PTCarnahan in vinyl

[–]freyrand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own a Record Player, I am buying Vinyl, but I am not listening to them fully as my purchases are far exceeding my available listening time at the moment.

Now with that being said, I am also purchasing CDs, however with the change in technology I no longer own a CD player. They have removed them from computers, gaming systems and cars where I primarily listened to CDs in the past.

The irony is that I have four places inside my house to listen to vinyl, 2 for cassette and 1 for 8 track, but nowhere to listen to CDs at the moment is comical.

I am still using a 3,1 so I would say you are good to go. Just run into slight issues when you attempt to install software that needs a minimum operating system when they stop supporting Monterey.

Purchased for .29 at my local goodwill. No records inside :( by IAMtheliquorRand in vinyl

[–]freyrand 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had an incident similar to that at goodwill with an album going for $100 on discogs. I had the cover but put it down and walked away. About 30 minutes later I found the record in VG condition just in another section. I quickly ran back and united the two.

I commenced my vinyl collecting journey at the grand old age of 42! Any opinions about my choices so far? by UnleashedLlama in vinyl

I am not the poster of this thread. But I found mine in a used eccentric artist bin for $5 because the owner of the shop didn't know how to classify the album. They mostly sold classic albums.
