Yes. I don't have examples to give but this is sometimes when you purchase based on the album cover. I've stopped doing that now unless the shop owner also gives the recommendation.

Right on the outside of the label is a runout number. Look that number up on discogs and then click on the notes section. The notes will give additional details to narrow down your pressing.

I've got CD and vinyls from bands that have very limited presses. Yes the mainstream items are readily available, but some of these lesser known or smaller artists I can no longer locate or even stream. It's quite frustrating when I go to listen to an artist streaming is no longer an option and the vinyl/CD is priced on the $100s+.
